    Hi,

I hope you can help me.

    I'm a tall woman and I weigh 75kg.

At my optimum weight I'm about 63-65 kg.

Father died this year. Since then my weight and comfort eating has gone up and up. It's emotional eating and stress / treating myself. Life has been tough with my Dads death and the subsequent heartache and relationship problems I find myself in with my husband. It's a sht time and I want it to get better.

So I need some discipline right now, to retrain me into eating better. I "know" the things to do, I just don't feel strong enough to do it on my own.

I'm going away at the start of may so I'd like to start something now.

I can't workout a lot because of a leg injury that my physio has told me to only do yoga or Pilates. I'm an at home parent and my other half works really hard so I can't get a regular class.

So I feel like I'm in a cycle - no exercise, eat cr0p, look fat, feel crp, cry about Dad, tea and biscuits, etc.

Do you think weight watchers or slimming world would help? I've two toddlers and I would have to bring them so I don't think they would sit still during a meeting.

What about motivation clinics? Are they only for people who don't know why they eat? I do - grief and boredom. There's one near me that do Saturday appointments.

    What about cost?

    Please help me.

    "None of the above" :D

See http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055963342 & http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055157091 for something that will help you long term.

Regarding exercises, you can do many at home: see some ideas from http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056185716 but check with your physio which ones would be safe with your injury.

I signed up to www.myfitnesspal.com and have been losing 0.5kg a week with literally no pain or struggle for a while now. It really helps me. :)

Since you are at home, you could try a few different yoga & pilates dvds. I suggest at least 3 so that you don't do the same one every time. For yoga, I have ones by Barbara Curry (old school but knows her stuff) and Claire Missingham (says a lot of sanskrit but really good workout).

Only YOU can motivate yourself to lose weight.
If you really want it you shouldn't have to rely on anyone or anything to help you.
I'd avoid wasting money on motivation clinics etc.

Best motivation of all motivation is self motivation.

If you want to do something about your weight, for starters you should stop buying "crap" junk foods.
Clear all the junk food out of your house and stock up on healthy natural foods.

You mentioned in your post that you spend your day at home, great opportunity for you to prepare and cook all your meals from scratch - this will help with weight loss and will also keep yourself occupied and busy given you less time to feel crap and get upset.

A healthy diet is the main key to weight loss, Exercise just helps it that little further.

Join myonlinefitnesspal to help calculate your calories etc.

I can ensure you that once you start eating right you will start to feel better about yourself, and if you stick to it you will see results.

I know you mentioned you have an injury which means no intense exercise but could you even get out for a 20/30 min brisk walk each day in the morning or evening for some fresh air?
People generally feel more crap when they are cooked up in their house all day. It's amazing what a bit of fresh air can do :)

    Hope that helps!
