    Hi all,

I just got a letter from Ucd an been informed I've been out on a waiting list,I feel like I've tried doing everything I can to pull off the interview and was even in with them for 40 mins.

Anyway wondering if anyone knew anything about their waiting lists and how long it is and the likelyhood of getting in???

Any help would be great as I'm so anxious I really wanna get in!!

    Hey Rob,

I'm not sure about UCD (as i didnt apply here) but in UCC they told me you had an extremely high chance of getting offered a place if on a waiting list!!!

I would reckon you wont know until the deadline date where the people decide to accept/decline their place. I am still waiting to hear...ekkkk!

    Goodluck!!!

I found out today that I am on the waiting list for Trinity, anyone have any experience with the likelihood of getting an offer if you are on the waiting list?

Don't have any experience on it but I do know the only put 10 people on their waiting list and all depends on who accepts/declines their offer but I heard they took 5 people off the waitin list last year if u ring them they might be able to give u any idea of where u are on the list

Thanks for the reply! I called them today and they said they have 15 people on the waiting list but couldn't/wouldn't tell me where I was on it! I really want to get it so fingers crossed!!!

Can someone please let me know if or when they hear from Trinity regarding the waiting list?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

    Hi theskin,

I'm in the same boat as you! I rang them last week and they said to me that the people for the waiting list hadn't been ranked yet as they were still waiting for references for some of those on the list, and that they would know in two weeks (which is next week).

I'm going to call them tomorrow anyways to check anyways as I've to accept UCD before next Tuesday :/

i rang nuig today,no offers will be out untill after easter :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

Trinity have their waiting list ranked so if you ring them now, they will tell you where on the list you are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

Does anyone know when Ucd start ringing people about offers cause today's the deadline for first offers so I'm like anxiety alert just dying to know when they start ringing people on the waiting list!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 theskin

Thanks! I will give them a buzz tomorrow!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

No not yet and I'm driving myself mad but in weird news I got galway!which is the one I wasn't too arsed about so now I don't know what to do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

I'd say that UCD will get back to you before the deadline for Galway.. Can't understand why they don't just have the offers all in one day, it'd make more sense than all this waiting!

    Congrats on getting Galway btw!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

Your preaching to the choir sister!ive been saying the same thing then at least for the waiting list and all you'd all know and it wouldn't be as awkward and all!yeah so dunno and I cant even ring the girl in Ucd cause she's off today to see what the story is!as you can tell I'm a tad impatient ha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

Ha! I don't blame you! It's a ridiculous set up they have..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

What about you are you hoping for galway?or have u applied else where

I've already got UCD and accepted, was hoping for trinity but was fairly down the waiting list so didn't take the risk to wait for Galway. Just curious to see if they'd give an offer, it was the only place I applied to last year and didn't get it..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 ainewk

did anybody else hear from galway?impatiently waiting here :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Roberta88

Well where would you prefer to go to Ucd or galway? Jeez but that's brill Ucd and waiting list for trinity that's deadly!

Yeah I got my offer at 9 this morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

If you'd have asked me last year, it would have been Galway but I've changed my mind and would prefer to live in Dublin, been in UCD for 5 years now so fancied a changed of scene with trinity but not meant to be, UCD will have to put up with me for another 2!

Sorry, I don't mean to derail thread, but social work masters is completely not my field, so I know virtually nothing about it, but I have heard so many people mention it and with a waiting list it seems incredibly popular course to do. I'm just curious as to what peoples ambitions are, in terms of career are there great jobs? Or is it a passion for social work?

Also, much money in it?? :D (again, just curious, not my field of study at all!)

Waiting on NUIG also..just checked ive got no updates at all. Does the PAC status change on receipt of any notification? Id like to know either way now if i got it or not!

    Hi Jackass,

The masters gives you the professional qualification to work as a Social Worker in Ireland. All Social Workers are now required to be members of CORU (the regulating body for this field) and they require you to have done a Social Work masters or equivalent course.

From my own experience, I have never known anyone to do this course without having some desire to be a social worker in some capacity. Its a great base and helps with lots of different social work roles (such as medical, probation, child protection, drug/alcohol abuse, disability etc etc).

Definitely not a course to do if you are looking to make money. The job would be reasonably well paid except the tax is absolutely mental. Given the massive amount of stress that most social workers are under, especially within child protection roles, it really isn't worth the money (in my opinion).

You do it for the love of the job, nothing more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 136 ✭✭LJ82

hi, the closing date for trinity is tonight at midnight so i'd imagine they'll be going through the waiting list shortly, best of luck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 theskin

    Thanks for the info!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 136 ✭✭LJ82

best of luck, do you know where you are placed on the list?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 sexyfirepants

    Hi theskin,

Nope haven't heard anything from Trinity.. I don't think I will either because I'm in band 3... so I think at least 10 people will have to turn it down before I get an offer.. not holding my breath!
