Ah, it's not a big deal. They were two FRx bulls, €70-90 each and they are flying. Just a lad I met was there and said the dealer across from me was bidding the up, I reckoned if he haddnt someone else would as he wasn't the only bidder against me.

I'd hate a fella to think he was getting his leg across me, and dealers like doing that ;)

    Quick question.
When a dealer buys stock and brings them to a mart to sell on.
Who's name appears on the board when the stock hit the ring??

Was told that the last two calves I bought were bid up by the dealer selling them :(.
I'm happy with the price but didn't notice his name on the board, should it have been ?
Not related to the question but have you ever gone back to the farmer directly when you've been happy with what you got at the mart?

Not directed at anyone in this thread, but there are farmers who specify air conditioning in new land cruisers and tractors when buying them but they dont put walls around the milking palour because there "low cost" producers. This is not the costa del sol folks.

I can't understand why anybody would build a milking parlour in Ireland without having as much walls around it as possible

Jesue there's little more depressing than being in a dark parlour.. Seen a lovely one done years ago on a farm visit in Cork, with windows above head height along two walls, and it was fabulous... hard to beat natural light and a white pvc celing to reflect it down..

Had quick look at the revenue website regarding the property tax. Some interesting stuff there.

One thing that I noticed that I haddnt heard publicised was that anyone who opted not to pay the household charge to the council, they now owe revenue €200 and this will be in addition to this years property tax. It's a Revenue debt now so it will be persued and collected with vigour.

Paid mine this morning - it's still at €130. I begrudge giving it to them. Paid over €5k in development charges when I started to build the house in 2007/08 and found out that Leitrim CoCo didn't collect development charges from builders of 75% of estates built in Leitrim between 2000 and 2008. Now most of these estates are exempt because they are unfinished. It's rough justice!

I heard something a fair while ago, that Leitrim had the most ghost estates in Ireland? Whether that number was based on the people in the county, or houses in the county I can't remember.

Paid mine last Thursday with it at €130. It only goes to €200 after the last day of April afaik.

That's true afaik. The number was based on actual number of estates, not per head of population. After all, some parishes in other counties have bigger populations than us.

Twins this evening. It balances out a loss from the end of last year. They were up and had sucked when I got home from work. It's nice to get a win every now and then.
