The UK dealers who have an open export license can ship no problem.

Suppliers in the UK can ship to dealers here. I think it's to control where the high power scopes go hence the rule about anything over 4 power.

If you have a friendly dealer get them to receive it for you. I done so recently, but not to "avoid" anything simply because the my dealer knew the lad/shop i was buying from in the UK, and has a standing order with him.

I did a search of the usual UK retailers recently and all them say the same thing - you will have to wait 3 weeks for an export licence for scopes greater than 4 power. Allow about a month to get the scope.
As I'm not inclined to support repressive laws I simply ordered from Airguns of Arizona who had no problem sending any scope. If you use USPS it has a chance of slipping through without duty.

It's not the duty i would be worried about it's the Feds. They are sitting more, and more strict when it comes to exports of scopes.

As for duty. I haven't been hit in some time, but was on my last two imports. So they are clamping down on it here too.

    Just saying.

You might need an export licence on some scopes which costs $250 you could also get stung by the tax man, you would be better off trying to buy in europe.
Here is a place in the eu no extra tax etc and they have a good selection of stuff also no export licence to wait for.

Bought a scope and mounts from them a few months ago, as only place in Europe could find the scope I wanted was in Germany. Price-wise, with shipping and duty worked out about nearly 20% less than would have from Germany.

search a couple of those sites to find a scope you like then get a couple of your nearest rfd's to price it for you, if the price is reasonably close then i'd get them to order it for you to save you the hassle and worry of having it posted here

i've done it both ways and i find it easier to leave the rfd do the work as long as they're not looking for an arm and a leg to make a phone call or two

Bought a scope off The Optic Zone in the US, very prompt and professional. No problem with them exporting high powered scopes once the buyer agrees not to sell it on.
One thing the tax man will charge you tax on the item and tax on the value of the postal service, so weigh that off.
