    It's a spam trap. Basically spambots were hitting the forums coming first alphabetically in the Arts category pretty hard, so Aardvark was inserted in front of them as bait. It's been pretty successful, but occasionally some lost soul wanders in and suffers the wrath of the aardvarks.

    I'd be amazed if 3/4 of the posters mentioned hadn't reopened another account. Quite a few are obvious enough anyway.

    But it has to be javaboy for me. I miss him and Terry being mods. AH was at it's peak then.

    she has a lot of respect for others in the way she speaks to people when working in admin mode,not to say no one else is like that but have personaly not spoken to anyone else on the mod/admin team as far as can remember.

    it will be a loss to boards if its a permenent closure and removal from staff.

    as for others,why do people close accounts only to start up again under a new one?

    I imagine it's like when you've tried to get off with every woman in the village, and none of them give you the time of day, so you put on a fake moustache and sunglasses and try them all again.

    Accounts that have been active for a long time, especially from when the site was a lot smaller, can build up reputations that people just don't want to be associated with anymore for whatever reason. It's just a way of cleaning the slate and dropping a load of baggage you don't want anymore.

    There's a user called Zapp Brannigan already, he used to mod the stand up comedy forum before I took it over from him way back when. These threads are always weirdly full of coincidences from so many people crossing paths.

    Because over years of posting, you can give away a lot of information about yourself, even if it's unintentional. That's just one of several reasons why someone might leave, though I'm not saying it's why that particular poster closed their account.

    I myself am a re-reg from an original account back years ago.
