    Hi,

I'm hoping to do some range shooting for my birthday.
Would like to do a mix of rifle and pistol down a range, not the interested in clay pigeon shooting.

I've been told around Hilltop Shooting Range and they seem to have rifle range open to walk-ins but no pistols.

Is there anybody were you would recommend, I'm based out of Dublin City Centre so somewhere closer to Dublin would be better.

Not a whole lot of ranges around Dublin that shoot pistol and even fewer that have club guns. I don't think any range allows non members to use pistols anyway.

    Ok thanks for the info.

Is there any good ranges around Dublin that do have loan rifles you can recommend?

    Courtlough in Bslbriggan.
If you dont have a firearm cert, you may have to do a proficency course and a rang may look for you to take out insurance, so you are unlikley just to walk in somewhere and be allowed shoot any dicipline.

Would that constitute day membership? Which is illegal.

Very interesting, because when I made an enquiry like the OP, going back about 2 years ago before I got my rifle's I was not told that. Tks for the update.

The only walked up shooting I know of is Clay pigeon.

Yup. As it's not classed as target shooting it is not governed by the same rules as rifle/pistol shooting.

Non members can use club rifles on a range under supervision..Sparks outlined the law on it a while back.

    That's right. It's in SI622/2011.

However i was referring to paying for membership of the range on a "per day" basis.
