    lolz
Taoiseach Enda Kenny proves you just shouldn't be judged on your family. His nephew, Kevin Hastings, from Westport, Co. Mayo was jailed today with a sentence of seven months for a number of crimes including car theft, burglary and driving while under the influence of drugs (also for stealing Dutch Gold in a Tesco in Swindon).

You seem to be under the impression that Enda Kenny is judged on his family and that his family have to be perfect, a member of his family got into trouble same as lots of people do, it's no big deal.
I don't see it as a reason to have a go at the Taoiseach or his nephew.

    toilet journalism

If he had gotten away with it because he was his nephew be cause for news

Too true, the OP wasn't expecting the thread to go this way though.

beside, he is Taoiseach so wheather his nephew was/is in jail or not won't affect the public or the economic state the country is in. Nobody's else business anyway. :)

I have zero time for Enda Kenny but, 2 things:

    a. every family has its crap
    b. nobody should be held accountable for the actions of another

    Oh noes!

Now we have to OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT.

Or carry on as before, one or the other.

This young fella was probably banking on a property tax exemption. He can kiss that goodbye now.

Yes we are, you want to laugh at the the taoiseach and his nephew and I don't.
No family is perfect and we could all have family members who are in trouble with the law.

Awww, give the kid a break, he clearly comes from a bad family. Take a look at his uncle beating up on disabled children and breaking into pensioners bank accounts... pure scum, the kid never stood a chance.

Morto for Enda Kenny, his nephew robbed a crate of Dutch Gold (and a car)
Sounds like that "journo" is a young fan of the gold himself.
Why do people even read that joe.ie ****e when all joe.ie do is take news from the Independent and man-gossip it up?

The humour here comes from the fact that it's Enda, not the office of the Taoiseach. If similar news of Bertie Aherne's nephew had come out, it would have been "Drumcondra mafia" jokes and "keeping it in the family". But since Enda is such a straight laced, pole in the arse type of fellow, its especially funny knowing the squirming he'd be doing at this news.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,030 ✭✭✭✭Chuck Stone

He must be extremely disappointed having an Uncle like Enda.

I don't think his life should be made any harder because of it - it's no fault of his is it that his Uncle turned out the way he did.

certainly Enda has done more positive things for the country , than "won it at the races" Anorack Aherene

So Enda Kenny is now responsible for the behaviour of his nephew, OP?

You might be getting slightly ahead of yourself there. Bertie remember did bring peace to NI (mostly by himself ofc) and much of the trappings of prosperity that are visible in the country today are due to his party's (admittedly flawed) policies. So far Enda has..... lengthened the term on our unsustainable debt burden. (slow clap) If and when he rights the capsized ship that is this state, then he will qualify for the title "Glorious Leader"

The court heard how losing his grandmother two years ago, with whom he was very close, had had a serious impact on him

What a disgraceful excuse to use.

No, I thought After Hours woulda had a right laugh at this, some witty banter, good jokes etc.
Naw, looks like Friday afternoon is a tough crowd.........and die-hard Enda lovers :P
Shoulda waited until the more vexed evening crowd got it.

Actually Op polling shows that a majority of the Irish people would ultimately empathize with poor Enda's situation...

put that in your pipe and smoke it

I can't really sympathize with some scrot that goes around robbing cars and beer while high on drugs.
If you say that most people do, then it's clear Ireland has got it's priorities mixed up. :(

Yeah, you'd think the friday feeling would have kicked in by now wouldnt you? You'd have been better off posting this on Friday night when all the self righteous are gone out after a hard week's work and all the disenfranchised, poor and lonely bitter people clock in! :D

the economic mess was created under the Fianna Fail watch - Aherne and Cowen were commanders in chief as the country went bust - and what prosperity today , most people I know are suffering economically - fair play to Bertie on NI peace process, but economically his reign was a fraudulent disaster , Enda was elected to fix the mess he inherited
