An Englishman, a Frenchman and an Irishman were in a pub talking about their children.

'My son was born on St George's Day, 'remarked the Englishman, 'So we obviously decided to call him George.'

'That's a real coincidence', observed the Frenchman', My daughter was born on Valentine's Day, so we decided to call her Valentine.'

'That's really incredible', drawled the Irishman, 'Exactly the same thing happened with my son Pancake.'

Whenever I make pancakes they come off the pan looking like scrambled eggs. :(

Had my pancakes today as I couldn't wait. I ate 6 all with fresh lemon and vanilla sugar. Yum yum. My bife ate his with Hersey chocolate sauce and cream.

I remembered halfway through why it's only once a year as they are such a pain in the ass to make.

I've been practising my pancake making in preparation for tomorrow, yep, 364 days of practice :D

I shall be making my own chocolate sauce to drizzle over the pancakes though sadly this won't be tomorrow :(

They're incredibly easy to make. It's the cleaning up afterwards that's the pain in the ass.

So do you guys have your pancakes as your evening dinner? That's what we always did in my house growing up, but the OH thinks we're freaks as he used to have his as dessert after their evening meal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

If you think tomorrow is a good Tuesday then just wait for tomorrow 4 weeks ;)

Yeah it's basically supper. However, tomorrow for the first time I'm having them for breakfast too! :D

Dunno why I'm so excited about pancake Tuesday this year... For some reason I've been looking forward to it for about a month.

Oh and lemon and sugar. That is all.

Years ago, when I was in Secondary School, we used to go to the local Dunnes at lunch and devour the sample pancakes that were on offer. They soon learned to stop giving out free samples of pancakes when we were around.

Tomorrow is my day off, WHOOPEE, so I'll be having pancakes with bacon and lovely soft fried eggs for breakfast.
Last year my little lad introduced me to the joy of Panda chocolate spread and bananas as a filling for dessert so that's what we'll be having

Christmas day is Christmas day for adults..

Cheltenham is Christmas day for social welfare sponges with debilitating gambling addictions.

I don't claim social welfare nor do I have a debilitating gambling addiction so that blows your theory out of the water Einstein

I'm just going to inject the pancake batter straight into my veins - better bang off it.

Too much lemon on your pancakes has caused you to be bitter?

When I was younger my mam would get pancakes from Superquin for pancake tuesday. They'd make you them fresh on a hotplate.

I don't think i've ever tasted a better pancake. I don't know what it is :P Maybe it was just being a kid... maybe because it was made fresh. my search still continues. Lol.

Chop up heap of nice thick cut rashers from the local butchers and fry them up with an onion.

Feck a few mushrooms into the pan while you're at it.

Spread a nice generous dollop of Colman's mustard all over the pancake.

Fire the other rasher and onion stuff you made on top and wrap it up.

    Eat.

Pure f'kin bliss I tell ya.

    Pure bliss.
