Mr Gripp - The only thing you'd be covered with would be brown and smelly, and waaaaaay over your head. :D

Both of you would be prosecuted if caught:

    - you for having a firearm without a licence for it

    - your dad for giving you the gun to use

in all probability the guns would be seized - his and yours - and both of you would more than likely never again get a licence.

i tought you could be named by other people to carry there gun? or is that just for under 16s? im just after filling out a application form for new rifle lately and sure there was a option to nominate someone else, or did i pick it up wrong?

You are thinking of a training license which would allow the other person to carry and use the gun, but it's still a license. Granted €40 not €80, but you still have to apply for one through the same channels.

Two people can be licenced on the same firearm but you both need to apply for a licence. you could get a licence for your fathers shotgun so you can use it when you want. But you need a licence the same as your own guns.
