pictures from today. need to get a picture of my bleeding hose setup, no idea what it's from but there's 2 hoses and a valve in the middle, made the whole process really easy and I had it suspended from a tree and the other end going into a jam jar
    Edit
    Found one

handy for when you get a runny 99

Kids these days, even letting the 99 get runny is a no no. ALWAYS start at the bottom and lick up....no wastage!

    Same as a 69 so!:pac:

There'll be no 99s of any description if I don't get the bike back on the road soon

Took longer finishing off the cleaning today so just about got the lines on today.. Does this look OK? One line is perfect bend like I've seen on other bikes no touching of the line on anything and the other has a tight enough twist and is resting against the fork leg

    421793.jpg

Able to turn lock to lock without any issue so it's more a cosmetic / have I one of them backwards type things

    I don't think that's right.
They should be going back round the fork the other way.
They shouldn't be coming around the front of the fork like that.
    I think so anyway.
I'll look at my own in the morning and let you know.

thanks that would be good, I tried a few different ways around the back of the forks and it was hitting bottom yoke then plastic from inside the dash etc this was the best fit I could find for the moment

Ok, I'll try and get a couple of pics for you in the morning. Hopefully they will give you a better idea.
Have u a double banjo at the lever or a t piece above the mudguard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

double banjo and both lines are the same length so I think one of them is going to look a bit weird always but just for routing behind would be better if I could get it to not rub in the few places

I'm assuming you haven't cable tied both lines together anywhere?
Might help up near the lever, and stop rubbing elsewhere.

no cable ties yet was just doing a test fit so no big deal swapping it all around

My first day out today, awesome to be back on a bike after a very long time .... Anyway, I put some rim tape on after a trip round Wicklow 😀 As small a job as it is it stretched the limits of my patience, very finicky job 😂

Swapped cables and they just fell into place this way looks way better and Id say this is right now what do you think

With a few clips and zip ties they will be good

    That's more like it!
I'm going out there now to see mine.

Btw, have you ever thought about polishing your fork sliders?
Would make a huge difference and a bit of autosol every so often would keep them in tip top shape.
Easy enough to get them looking like this yourself.

    That's it alright.

Here's another way which my ZZR is done.
    A lot tidier too.
A single line from lever to one caliper, a double Bango on the caliper and then just a short line over the mudguard to the other caliper.

    Thanks for that
Jesus I'll have to get some of that magic autosol my forks are horrible looking

The single line is neater alright yeah that's what the stock layout was like

Currently bleeding have to go back to old bleed nipples new ones are weeping all of them and I've no plumbers tape tried red rubber grease on them but not helping seal at all

Just picked this up yesterday 😃, my first bike after a loooong period had a good spin out around South Dublin and Wicklow, stopped for break and applied the rim tape .... right up there on finicky jobs I don't wanna do again.

What blade said, routing does not look correct

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

It's fixed and bled now waiting to go put chain on later today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

guy who was going to put the chain on isn't around until Wednesday.. should have sent him a text when the chain arrived and I could have borrowed the riveting tool if I'd known he wouldn't be around

end of the story for the moment

Did zvm x chain and jt sprockets on

Bought a real bracket for my rear seat cowl (no more bodge job with mechano)

Helicoil for side panel screw. Felt tape under the side panels to stop them rubbing on tank.

Bike is cutting out randomly sometimes as it sits at idle thinking it's a little issue with vacuum tubes or else the rubber around the throttle bodies

Small issue though bike is driving 100% otherwise. Great to be back out. Bike cut out behind a bin lorry and when I started again the guy thought I was revving angrily or something lol

Anyone good with electrics that can help me out?
My stator isn't charging my battery.
I got a new stator and still having the same problem.

I have done a few tests and I don't seem to be getting power through the 3 yellow stator cables.

Here's a vid of another test I did.
Am I right in thinking that I should be getting 0 ohms with the ignition off when I test each of the yellow wires like in the video?

That looks like you're testing resistance to ground, which should be infinite.
Resistance between any pair of the 3 yellow wires should be around 0.5 - 1 ohm.

Set the meter to AC 200V range and see if you are getting any output from any of the yellow wires at idle.

Connect everything up as normal - what is your DC voltage across the battery before you start the bike?

Start the bike and let it idle - again what is DC voltage across battery?

    4000rpm - same?

Then do the above tests with the meter set to AC volts - this checks the 'ripple' in the voltage - appreciable ripple means the rectifier is dying

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

DC on the battery before I start is 12.7.
When I start the bike it slowly starts dropping.
If I leave the bike running for 5 minutes and switch it off,it will not start again as the volts have dropped under 11.
Reving the bike doesn't change voltage.
In below vid I should be getting 20v AC when idling and around 60v when at 4000rpm but am getting 0.
