Erwin Rommel is my favourite German general. I'm not sure if he was a member of the Nazi party.

He was highly skilled in desert warfare and I don't think that any of his Afrika Korps were accused of any war crimes.

He was linked to the German Resistance against Nazism as well.

    Albert Speer

Convinced the allies he was just an innocent architect unaware of the mass extermination, meanwhile he has a rake of expensive paintings he's stroked from the Jews down through the years. Does 20 years inside, writes a book, gets out and travels the world doing interviews about his time working for the Reich. Goes back to Berlin, sells of the paintings for a nice sum and finally dies in London in a hotel room whilst in the throws of passion with his considerably younger mistress.

Evil yet clever, very clever indeed.

Was this thread godwinned from the start?

Oh and Josef Mengele, because without him Slayer would not have written Angel of Death. All that death was worth it.

Karl Otto Koch, stole from the Nazis to fund his orgies. Getting syphilis and then killing his doctor to keep him quiet.

His wife was probably one of the most evil women to ever walk the earth.

Rommel I suppose given that he was pretty good at being a general or whatever his rank was.

Rommel was a field marshal. His son Manfred was also mayor of Stuttgart for over 20 years.

Indeed it was. This thread proves Godwin's Law.
It seems that you are right, that he was a Nazi. It also seems that it may have been a legal requirement for a man in his position to be a member of the Nazi party.

I appreciate the fact that you quoted that article in order to show that Rommel was a Nazi. However, I would view the rest of that article with a certain amount of skepticism, until proved wrong.
