23:59 - "Lets take a quick commercial break and we'll be back with Imelda May and the countdown."

00:02 - She stumbles on stage and sings Auld Lang Syne. Still waiting for that countdown :pac:

    Well done to you RTE!

    Mod edit: this didn't happen!

Yeah Imelda May sang Auld Lang Syne about 5 minutes after midnight

Regardless if they started the countdown at 12:05 its far better than a late late show style new years show with "celebrities" and old crusty people we have never heard of preforming a song from their new album

They probably have the most over paid staff of any entity in Ireland. I can't imagine what their technical director is on if Marian finucan is on 600k a year.
What a joke or an organistion

Actually they were bang on time for the first time since I can remember. Miriam still managed to get a surprise when the camera switched to the studio though. You think she'd be used to live tv by now.

I was flicking between both. I do enjoy Jools but as it's not live, the countdown is a bit fake!
