Any thoughts on the best supressor / moderator to get for a .300 win mag?

Hi Tac, in my own experience you cant beat a T8 for noise and kick supression. They are heavy on the end of the gun, and they are prone to rust if you dont look after them. But compared to any other supressor I have used or witnessed being used, The T8 beats them all on noise and felt kick reduction. I also have an ATEC and while it is far lighter, it does not come close to the T8. I am using them on a 308 and a 243.

    ASE Utra S-series.

Here are a few mods and average prices. They do depend on where you buy them obviously.
    1. Ase Utra S5/Jet-Z = €380
    2. Ase Jet-Z Compact = €345
    3. T8 = €265
    4. Wildcat Predator = €295

I have/had all of the above. I've given some observations based on usage and the rifles they were used on below.

    An Ase Utra S5 on a .308
    • Great mod, great results with little to no difference in POI out to 300yds with it on or off.
    • Easy enough to clean.
    • Heavy on the end of the barrel.
    • More expensive than most other mods.
    • Tough wearing and will last as long as the owner if treated right.
    Ase Jet-Z Compact on a .308 & .243
    • Great results, good noise reductiom.
    • Nowhere as heavy as the larger Ase models.
    • Not too easy to clean, but not hard.
    • Fairly expensive.
    • Partially refelx in that it comes down over the muzzle/barrel a bit.
    T8 on 30-06 and .243
    • Good on the .243 and 30-06, but difference in POI with mod on was 7" at 200yds.
    • Prone to rusting.
    • No more difficult to clean than an Ase, etc.
    • Screws down over barrel so reducing excess weight on the end of the rifle.
    • Has a resonance when fired.
    • Cheapest of the current available stock of mods.
    • Lighter than the Ase.
    Wildcat on .223
    • Great mod, and very little in difference in POI with in on or off.
    • Lighter than the Ase and ( i think) the T8.
    • Screw down over the barrel for reduced weight.
    • Completely comes apart for easy cleaning.
    • Baffles can be changed allowig the mod to be used on a .223 up to .30cal wth new inners.
    • Polymer housing gives no resonance.
    • Ceahoer than Ase, but a little more expensive than T8.

Hi Cass, 265euro on T8? They used to be that price a year back but they all gone up to 300 in most spots as the sterling got strong. Can you still get them at that price. I'm a big fan of them

Bought it three months ago at that price. Maybe the guy was giving me a deal because i've bought 4 of my last 5 guns there not to mention a lot of ammo, accessories, etc.

ASE Northstar in stainless steel does it for me. I use it on both the .223 and .308.

Son had the T8 and it showed a little rust on the outside that was easy enough to clean up.

Throw Roedale into the mix too.. Know little of that size calibre but it is easily the quietest 223 mod of all the ones we've tried.

I done the very same with mine. Put a lovely finish on it. Looks part of the rifle now. I turned it on the lathe at work and rubbed it down with fine emery cloth and sprayed it with a fine mist to avoid runs, let it dry and done it again to give it final coat. Turned out well. Rain runs of it and never seen any rust since but still give it a squirt of WD-40. Worst thing to do with any mod is to leave it on your rifle while locked away in storage. Ruins the crown of the barrel, rust kicks in which results in pitting

Have a look at this from ThirdEyeTactical.com
    http://www.thirdeyetactical.com/thirdeye_website3_009.htm

    SPARTAN Sound Moderator

The Spartan Sound Moderator is new to the Market and offers a number of revolutionary Features including Aluminium 7075 Super deep dished Baffles with each one incorporating its own Stainless Steel Blast centre to help significantly reduce Gas Cutting. Another stand out feature is the incorporation of an integral Muzzle Brake within the Moderator to help with Gas dissipation and Recoil reduction. Disassembly of the Moderator is made easier due to the way the Baffles slot together to allow removal as one unit eliminating the possible 'cockling' of the Baffles within the tube during Disassembly.
Because of these innovative features, we have been able to reduce both the Diameter and the weight of the Moderator whilst no compromise has been made regarding the Sound reduction.
Both over Barrel and Barrel end mounted units are available.

Available with .22/6mm or .30 Cal Baffles
