Anyone know can you apply for a deer licence any time of year?

I was told they only send them out in August. I'm awaiting a .243 to come in, brand new, as i;ve private deer permissions got for season in my area. Once rifle is in i'm gonna get the paperwork underway to be ready to head out this season coming. Is a .243 good enough for red lads as herself is from Mayo so can get permissions off her family.

Also is it good enough as drop them on spot. I have been out rough shooting before X-mas and came across wounded Doe and don't want that to happen as Reds are a lot bigger than fallow.

I know all about shot placement and have another rifle already.

    Yes.

They issue the licenses up to the opening of the season. They also issue licenses during the open season. HOwever if i'm not mistaken if you apply after the season closes you will not be issued the license until before the next season.

    In and around then.

A .243 is good enough for any deer we have in Ireland. Once you have good shot placement, know the rifle, and what it can/cannot do you won't have a bother.

    Wow
You lucky bastard. I sent mine away last Monday still noting.

I was told you can be granted for the license early in a written letter but the license won't actually be issued till before the season starts. This is to give lads opportunitys to apply for the firearm license. Obviously if ther first time applicants.

They don't work the same way as gun licenses. You are simply granted it. The only notice you may get is when/if the ranger contacts you for more info or checks out the land permissions you have.

You can apply for the gun now, and ask the NPWS for a letter to state that you will be granted a license at the start of the season, and use that as your good reason for the gun.
