I found Burris rings excellent and a fraction of the price on ebay from the US & no issue with imports

Not trying to sound smart but no ring can do its job if your scope is not attached properly and its not a matter of tightening the mounts when scope is in place. Spend a reasonable few bob on mounts and you should end up with good ones. Very few to no dealers know how to mount a scope.
The lads say Warne and Burris they are not bad for their money

its amazing how often you see a lovely expensive rifle and a high end german or american scope, all held together with 20 euro mounts :( .

Burris are also easier to mount with.
I have warnes, but I don't like warnes. Not a huge fan of the Leupold ones I have either...

My Volquartsen mounts are my best set, and they're on the .22!

I would also say that if you have a good rifle and a good scope (S&B goes in this category) go with MAK, EAW or Recknagel (Era-Tac) rings. They are worth their price. ;)

EGW make some nice rings. Not to bad on price either considering the quality.
    I like the Delrin inserts.

I wouldn't be spending to much putting expensive rings on that rifle and calibre.
Burris xtreme Picatinny mounts would do fine

    Over the years i have used, and still have;
    • EGW
    • Burris
    • Warne
    • Sportsmatch
    • Hawke
    • Nightforce
    • Leupold
    • Sako Optilock
All of them done the job as needed. The only difference i found between the cheaper ones, and the more expensive ones was finish, and in one instance with a 20 moa rail that it did not give near the 20.

Lately, and when i can afford it, i have moved to NEARmfg rings, and rails. They are more expensive than most, but the quality is excellent, and when i buy a 20 or 30 moa rail it has 20 or 30 moa.

As said above most any rail/ring/mount will do the job. It's really a matter of what fits in your budget, and which you prefer.

    Pintos,
If you have already thrown down the dosh need for an S&B, it would be a pity to put on cheap rings.

For lamping or shooting foxes, you more than likely will not be taking long range shots, correct? Thus, most standard rings should be fine.

Normally, I suggest that you buy rings from the manufacturer of the scope and sometimes from that ofthe rifle.

Of course there are plenty of specialty companies that you could chose from.

What mount do you have? Weaver, Picatinny, other?

Since we are not talking long range, I would recommend the Burris XTR rings. They have a large surface area to contact the scope and six bolts to tighten down per ring.

If you have a few euro, you could always get a set of Nightforce rings. I plan on putting these on my new long range build. To be honest, I like the look of the XTR's better, but will be getting a NF scope and mount, hence, may as well go with the rings.
