I picked up Bayonetta 2 in Argos Athlone today, it was a tenner. 4 copies left, I asked the lady behind the counter.

I'll listen to a hundred young lads for that sweet, sweet price.

Actually lads I'm heading back there tomorrow and I'm going to pick those four copies up and flog them on eBay for a hefty profit. I'll be leaving first thing in the morning so if you want to get in there first you should probably let me know early. Cheers lads.

Strange... currently €26 on their site.

Wii U with Mario Kart and Splatoon €200 in Smyths, need to be €50 cheaper me thinks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

With both games, that's probably one of the better prices I've seen recently.

You'd imagine it will go cheaper again once the Switch launches, try clear out the last of their stock.

Brilliant price. Seems to be sold out in all stores though.

Have started back playing a lot of Mario Kart 8 online recently.

I had forgotten how addictive it is!

Getting the Switch next week but really don't know whether I'll get the rerelease of Mario Kart when it comes out or not.

Looking back at the Wii U, I think the only games that I really want to get to finish out my collection are Captain Toad and Kirby & the Rainbow Paintbrush.

Went back up in price I'd say due to demand. I just picked up the remaining copies, reserved them last night on the website. 40 bob for the lot. I'll flog them for 40 each on adverts, winner winner chicken dinner. I love a bargain me.

Who's going to buy it for 40 euro?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

It'll definitely increase in value mate. Wii U exclusive and all that.

Also, it's going for 59 dollars on Amazon at the minute mate. Having checked Currency Converter, that's 54 euro. So I'll make a nifty little profit, more than my projected figure. Cushty.

That's a great price mate. I can see why they call you the Robbing Bandit.

Don't think you'll get €40 each. Not a fan of people doing this to exploit people either. It's no different than what people were/ have been doing with the NES Classic Mini. If it was the double pack Collector's Edition then you'd have a chance.

Amazon are charging 59 dollars. Does that mean that one of the largest, most financially respected companies in the world are exploiting people? Don't think so guy.

That's quality profiteering right there, and the bonus pot stirring? Cashback! Good luck with that, as the Chinese fishermen say "may you catch crabs the size of buses".

So, since the Wii U is winding down and we're probably looking at the last decent opportunity to pick up any titles we're missing before they become a niche collectors item, what are people seeing as the essential titles?

More specifically, since I don't have Captain Toad, Kirby's Rainbow Ride, Paper Mario or the 2nd Darksiders game that's really the first one, am I missing out on essential stuff?

Edit : To play more-so than to collect, but I guess just stress play/collect as your reason if you're differently inclined than I.

    Bayonetta 2.

Profiteering on the item is not on really, or certainly telling everyone your intent to do it.
Saw a lot of folk get shafted when Metroid Trilogy became available in Tesco, some went in, bought the lot and sold it for profit, users here couldn't get one and, while not illegal by any stretch, it is mean, particularly when that person proudly shares their exploits on here.

Yeah, then there are those who claim to get them to stop other scalpers getting them. If it wasn't for scalpers, people who actually want these things could get them at a decent price. Just have to look at the ticket situation in this country for that as well.

No point replying to a lad boasting about it.

    Probably made up anyways :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

    Bayonetta 2.

I'm not missing out on that. I picked up 24 copies of it for €9.99 apiece in Argoses in and around Dublin, fashioned a make-shift mattress from them and now sleep on them every night. Like the game itself, the experience is both uncomfortable and immensely enjoyable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

CheckArgos shows a different story anyway:

    http://checkargos.com/product/2453758

Lowest price being €16.99 between the 15th and 21st, and €25.99 since.
Could have gone on clearance locally of course.

Warning issued over boasting of profiteering/goading users.

Now THAT'S profiteering. Mods, sort this guy out please. This is trolling.

No, it's not, it's joking based on your post. Not sure how sleeping on top of 24 copies would be profiteering anyway...

Do you have Yoshi's Woolly World? If not, it's a must have.

You could make a nice throw from Kirby's Epic Yarn!

No, it's not - they're clearly for personal use. You're going to fail that Custom's Official exam if you don't stop the hijinks and hit the books. But it was clearly goading, so I apologise for any personal distress the image of me writhing around on top of Bayonetta may have caused you. Or me, it's in my head now. Welcome back, lunch!

I'm flattered you think I could have €240 in my possession at any one time, no it was a loan from a mysterious but malevolent benefactor and what he's making me do on those game boxes is definitely profiteering from his point of view. It's giving me a new understanding of Feminism though, so I guess silver linings...

Yes I do. It's gorgeous and great fun but it just never pulled me in.

Personally I'd lean towards MK8, Bayonetta 2, SM3DW, Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors, Lego Marvel Superheroes, Guacamelée, Black Flag and Arkham City as my highlights. Not necessarily the best games but they held my attention the longest and/or were the best family-fun local multiplayer. My view is skewed heavily by a lack of other platforms for multiplatform titles and a need for Off-TV play for personal use.
