Joyetech eVic - Provari challenger?

More bells and whistles than a err, ringy whistly thing - so much so it looks like a wind-up at first but no, looks like the real deal.
It does look like a gamechanger though and a real step forward for Joyetech. Question is, will it stand up to a Provari?

It looks more like a sex toy but does have some very nice features, plug in charging is a big bonus rather than a separate unit and the display looks user friendly.

HOWEVER: Two reasons why I have a provari 1, consistent vape and 2, The quality of feel and build quality. If it does 1 then I will have a look.

Surely anyone who is the proud owner of the almighty provari doesn't *need* anything else? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 147 ✭✭Thin White Duck

.... which is why I don't feel the need to invest ;)

Far prefer the look of the Provari and will be surprised if the build quality of the eVic is as good and at the end of the day the Provari does everything I need it to and does it well. Still think this has the potential to shake up the market a bit though.

the main reason I got a provari is the consistency of the vape (well, that and the variable voltage.. and the ohm checker, build quality, smug feeling of self satisfaction)

if I want to vape at 4.9v oh a 2.6ohm coil then I want to vape at that wattage until the battery can't give anymore and needs to be changed. I don't want the voltage dropping as the day goes on, got sick of that with the LT and the twist

if the eVic can give that kind of consistency then it's a definite contender but so far nothing has bar the provari.. and I guess the darwin, other wattage/kicked mods.

Got to get me one of them next month when they come out :) wonder if any Irish sites will be stocking it, rather keep my biz local?

Think I have found the wifes Xmas pressie for me :D she just don't know it yet.
Looks a nice bit of gear and I do love high tech thingies, and the PC link up updates looks really neat, wonder if I can watch netflix on it as well :D

Jesus Christ. Every week now, it's just... Vaping feels like the Apple upgrade cycle.

This does look pretty good, just have to wait and see what the mountainprophet folks make of it.
Are it's features worth that much more than the Vamo?
Why does it stop at 5v?
What's the obsession with 15watt limits?

It's 3 to 5 volts and 2 to 15 watts which pretty much covers the bases for most people, love the upgradeable firmware and the fact it takes 18650's.

Pity it looks so much like a "muff missile."

Found a website that has the eVic for sale at €100 (€112 with shipping) it's a Greek site. It's a pre order for Dec 13th arrival.
Never come across them before and was wondering has anyone done biz with them?

Going to wait now as ESI are getting them in before Xmas and getting it from them. You will be lucky to get this side of the new year, as I think the cut off date for Xmas post from Greece is usually middle of the month, that was the case when getting stuff from relatives in Greece in the past.
I'll let you know what it vapes like when I get off ESI :D

Really enjoying the eVic, it feels just half the wait of the Provari, don't know if it's as durable as the Provari as I haven't dropped it on the floor yet  but no problems with the lectrics like some mods I can think of :p

The 2600 mAh battery lasted me 22 hours, and have got 3 18650's 2200 mAh's from my lavatube set up. :)

Running it on watts and around 9.5 with my 2.4 viva coils.
Would recommend it to anyone thinking of upgrading and only €70 from Bargainvaper :)

Going to use the eVic as the main vape for now the computer link up is kool too and awaiting the new software update to V2 luvly jubilee. Dont think anyone can justify the Kanger Twist as the best starter kit from now on when you can get a vapour intelligent cigarette kit for jut €8 more ;)

    Minor details Picard.
You get a 2600 battery, and can charge it via the control head no charger needed, clearos are cheap enuf too.

If it lasts a chain-vaper like Kiffy 22 hours then one just has to remember to put it on charge before one rolls over to go to sleep every night....surely????

    Yes!

Well, no, but I have more faith in Apple's knowledge of circuit design & engineering skills than the mostly random gaggle of cloners in Shenzhen who seem to look at whatever product and go "Sher we'll have a lash off that there, we'll see how it goes."
Case in point and back on topic: eVic - designed and intended to have a 15w limit and a 3.5amp limit.
Actual numbers: 11w and a 2.2-2.3 amp limit (lower than an eGo Twist).

Serious case of "Wha..?" out of that for me.

The eVic does look very pretty in 18350 mode though, if pretty counts for anything.

Yeah the battery stops charging when full ;)
And I know how good the value the Kanger starter kit is too, but how many of us go from twists to bigger mods, so why not go for a good one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and skip paying €62 before moving on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭sept09baby

Down to €56 now and discount code boards will give 15% for the next few days

In seriousness though I'd love to try the eVic - for the simple reason I think it looks funky! Paired with my Kangers the different limits etc are not an issue for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

A lot of newbies seem a bit put off by the size of eGos, never mind a large yoke like the eVic.
The Janty MiD might be a good crossover device size-wise, but needing to pay for upgrades and the plethora of inane options might frighten people.

Oops I meant the Kanger Twist kit is now €56! Sorry for the confusion.

Will still be the kit I recommend to newbies - size, build quality and simplicity being the main reasons.

Kanger great value @ €56 anyway. It's what got me into vaping in the first place. So simple to use. Very light to carry around etc.

No, the eVic. That'll teach me for not quoting posts. Twist fan. Kanger fan.
Neither are bad at all. Somebody needs to bring out a 2ft long Twist for me to be happy with the battery life though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,417 ✭✭✭The Pontiac

I'm following ye now. For the price of those two, you can't go wrong as a starter pack.

Nobody is going to start off with a provari anyway (but they probably should).

    I couldn't possibly comment!

    Here's two comparable shopping carts:

I think the kanger kit still represents the best value for a beginner or someone buying one thing as a gift.
    ARJaD.png

I reckon if you were a starter going with the eVic, you would want at least another battery as a starter, (you know, for a spare), along with a couple of kanger T3's as a baseline and some juice ofc.
    F7Sbs.png

I agree that a starter who is committed to trying vaping might benefit from spending twice as much upfront for savings in the long run.

It's great that we have the Vamo and eVic options now instead of just the ProVari, giving people a midrange to upgrade to or start on if they wish.

Granted the Kanger is the best value money wise (although I could get the evic total down to €80 by shopping at more than one website, and buying an efest instead of an AW IMR but thats only penny pinching), you won't beat the Kanger for price and the battery is a good one, but I have 3 twists and haven't used them since August, don't even use my LT anymore.

Maybe I would be plugging the Vamo if I had tried one over the Twist, and maybe there is not much difference in the Vamo over the evic/Provari except the hype (and price), can't say as I haven't tried it, but everyone that has seems to loves it. All I know is that not long after getting twists I was looking for something better, so it would work out cheaper in the long run for someone to avoid the route I took. I spent €285 on my Provari set up, but the eVic has worked out much cheaper as I have all the bits already, and got it for just the cost of the mod, which won't be the case for a cigalike up-grader, haven't worked out the price to upgrade straight to the Vamo but at €39 for it it wouldn't be too much more than the pre sale price of the Kanger Twist?

But I concede  that the Kanger/Vamo is the cheapest upgrade or starter kit :o
There that's my new years resolution kicking in already (try not to take the pi$$ so much and be more agreeable ) Stupid resolutions

You own both a Provari and an eVic?? Disregarding all other set ups, how do those two compare?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 516 ✭✭✭kiffy

    sept09baby wrote: »

Well the first noticeable difference is the weight, the eVic seems about half the weight, but performance wise I cant find any difference in them. The visual interface of the eVic is a nice/new way of using a mod, and I don't know how far they can upgrade the eVic with software updates in the future, with the first upgrade they have made the eVic a wattage controlling device as well as volts, so what else (if anything they can improve on with further upgrades) ok with a 2.6 ohm coil I can only get 9.6 watts but at that tastes a little burnt 9 watts is my choice with the juice I'm using, the Provari will give you as much as you want, but at 2.5mg juice 9 watts is plenty, though Grind's would turn his nose up at that low wattage :p

I think the weight of the Provari makes it seem more the better quality mod as you think it has to be better as the inside must be better quality because it so much heavier. But if someone held both in my mouth (not at the same time of course) and eyes closed I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Very pleased with the performance of the eVic

One point they have in common is I will need adapters for both as I tried the T3 on the eVic and it wouldnt fire even though it has the eGo connection haven't tried the Vision or other eGo clearomisers on it, as my sole clearo device is the Viva's

Fill two devices with the same or complimentary juices, and do this. Vape both at the same time.
    THAT'S the shít right there.
Then you'll understand why I bang on about dual coils so much.
Short draw... Pounding... Back... Throat.... Dead... Heaven...
