OMG, my life has been changed! E-Cigs..

Bought an E-Cigarette yesterday. I've been smoking for over 20 years - about 35-a-day - and this gadget has changed my life.

No tar or other carcinogenic substances or ingredients harmful to human body. Eliminating about 3,000 other harmful chemicals. No second-hand smoke - you can smoke them anywhere as they only produce a vapor-like smoke. No smell or nothing.

Cost about €12 a week to feed my habit, as against €120 on real cigarettes. This is a revolutionary product, the tobacco companies should be worried, big time!

I know there's an Vaping & E-Smoking forum, but trying to get this message out to as many people as possible. Make the change today!

Charlie Sheen has recently launched his own e cigarette company, NicoSheen. Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Kate Moss and Leonardo DiCaprio have also made the switch.

Here is Katherine Heigl on David Letterman with her e-cigarette.

    Second that Bro!

Off the ciggies nearly 2 months now.

Smoked 20 a day for 23 years & tried everything to quit.

    Made the switch effortlessly.

Enjoy Nicotine (which is harmless) without the harmful side effects of smoking.

How are more people are not into this?

Spamming? E-cigs only contain nicotine, it's the tar that sticks to your lungs and give you cancer. With vaping on an e-cig, you're taking in nicotine, just like buying a patch at the chemist. Nicotine in itself, is no more harmful than caffeine.

JUst be careful where you "smoke" 'em. :pac:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-18728303
A fake cigarette prompted armed police to swoop on a coach on the M6 Toll road and close the motorway for more than four hours.

Forty eight passengers on the Megabus Preston to London service were led off the coach and forced to sit apart in a cordon on the opposite carriageway.

The road was closed near Lichfield before police said they were no longer treating the incident as suspicious.

Police said they received a "genuine report" of vapour escaping from a bag.

    E-Cigs can save lives.

    I'm well impressed by them.

I tried them. They're the same difference to me as nicotine inhalers. Feck all good. :(

Where did you buy it? I want to buy one to stop me smoking on nights out (don't smoke other than that) but can't find out where they're sold.

Pity they didn't work for you. Maybe try them again? Working a treat for me, and I was a hardcore smoker.

To add to the "be careful where you smoke them," point, I actually got jumped on recently by a scumbag masquerading as a bouncer of a nightclub (I won't say where) as I was smoking one on the way out. His face went white when the head doorman intervened, I asked him what I'd done to deserve someone trying to choke me out, then when the 'bouncer' said I had been smoking inside, I tipped the top and said, "Eh, they're electronic, dickhead." I haven't seen him work there since.

Most venues are sound about it, though. That's the first time I've had any kind of trouble. If I'm gigging somewhere, I'll explain it to the manager beforehand and they usually just end up asking if they're any good.

Wrote a blog about my experience with them here, actually, if anyone is interested.

2 months off them as well with the help of Mr Kanger and friends. and not vaping as much either.
Took me a month to learn the "Oh, You're a Smoker..." distainful look, but now i'm an all-around @sshole

Yep. It's quality for football matches and the likes (but I'd still generally use the smoking area when I can, for the banter). If you want to be on the safe side, just mention it to a member of staff. They can't stop you, and generally don't bother trying anyway.

So can you smoke them in pubs then?

    Well, in theory you can.

It's up to the Management really.

    I always ask beforehand.

Always some barfbrain can say, 'Why can't I smoke in here too?' schick.

Better to use an E-cig that doesn't look like the 'real thing', I find.

im off the smokes 16 months , thanks to e cigs

but i wont say they are 100% safe - not long term studies
and most of the info on the web is either funded by pro or anti e cig groups

new york has banned them , Australia and NZ also , in finland you can not use them on public transport

in saying that i love them , have no intention of giving up using it
and as for smoking in pubs or clubs ,i have never had in Ireland got any problems off anyone

but , as my cardiologist said to me , they cant be any worse than the real thing

Oh I'd agree with you up to a point JS, but these yokes could very well save lives with those folks who just can't give up the nicotine hit. Bear with me...

I'd count myself among those TBH. After an adulthood of smoking, I gave up cold turkey(the best way IMHO, tho YMMV), I didn't imbibe nicotine for over a year and christ my head went to mush. I actually started to carry a notebook around to keep track because I could barely keep up with the simple stuff. I'm not joking JS. Clearly my brain chemistry out of the box was/is fooked. :( I look at my schooling and the results I got over the years and they were all over the place. My leaving cert was a disaster. I found/find it hard to focus. Always have done. I can juggle a load of mental balls in the air, but trying to pick one out is the hardship. It's like you have a telly with 20 channels randomly flicking on, but no remote control to say "OK now I'll tune into South Park". Very frustrating. Came to the demon weed quite late for some at 17. I repeated my leaving cert that year and got pretty high marks, very high in a couple of subjects. And with precious little study involved and a completely diffferent result from the previous year.

Subsequently I read more on the subject and the drug. ADD/ADHD used to be thought of as a juvenile condition/illness. Latterly more and more people are coming forward as adults with it. More than in the past. Some researchers have dug into the stats etc and found that in the past when smoking was considered OK, those kids fell off the ADHD radar because they took up smoking. Now because of the rightfully very real health issues they don't take it up nearly so much. A couple of trials showed nicotine was better for ADD/ADHD than other drugs like Ritilin. With less side effects too.

Hey maybe we're self dosing*, those among us a bit screwed up :), but if there's a better way and a far more healthy way to get our "fix/relief" I'm all for it. If it had been available for me back in the day, I'd never have touched flame to Reynolds rolled half rancid dirty leaf.

*odd one is that in Ireland today with it's non smoking laws in enclosed spaces one of the few exempt are psychiatric hospitals. Lots of self dosing going on. Studise have shown nicotine does indeed improve memory in normal subjects and seems to protect agin some forms of Parkinsons and Alzheimers. Yes tobacco is one of the single most deadly, nay damn near evil drugs we've ever plugged into, but nothing is ever so black and white. We can argue the ratio :)

I wouldn't go down the save lives route via these things just yet. I agree that Nicotine definitely has its uses health wise but there's currently two issues here. The first is that for manufacturers the most cost effective way to produce e-cigs is by using nicotine sourced from tobacco and contamination of tar is very real concern. I'm sure with better regulation and standards this fear could be sorted out but right now it's not even being addressed. People are being led to believe these products are tobacco free when they're actually not.

The second is that because of how these are delivered to the person they may actually increase susceptibility to nicotine addiction. Regardless of medical benefits if a delivery method increases chances of addiction it shouldn't be supported.

As you said though it's a gray area, if this gets people off smoking then I'm actually, reservedly, going to support it. Smoking damages a persons health in so many ways, not just ways that could kill them, but ways that put a huge stress on the healthcare.

you wont find a juice that tastes like a brand of cigarettes or even like smoking cigarettes, it's next to impossible to replicate the taste and feel of burning paper and plant material.

some liquids come closer than others but none of them taste anything like the real thing. once you stop smoking and get your taste buds back, you'll see why that's a good thing.

    That's a valid point.

People say to me that I've swapped one addiction for another.

Untrue, I've the same addiction (to Nicotine) that I've always had, but I'm taking it in in a much less harmful way.

That's not to say Vaping is not harmful, but so far it seems like it's no more harmful than Nicotine patches or drinking a lot of Tea.

More research needs to be done on this though.

In the meantine, I'm glad & proud to have lasted off the smokes this long.

Maybe I should change my username to Not so Stained Class.
