    Thought the first hour of this was very disappointing and the over use of the Bond theme was getting frustrating. After that, I felt it picked up and turned out to be a decent movie but still leagues behind Skyfall.

    Jaysus I thought Skyfall was pretty bad. I'll give this a miss so.

    Visually muddy and uninteresting, the absence of Roger Deakins this time out is really noticeable. Not much personality either in the characters or the direction. Cobbled together story. Lea Seydoux given almost nothing to do. Seriously underdeveloped, vague, tacked-on and somewhat opportunistic theme of "surveillance". Craig and especially Waltz were surprisingly dull and all the
    Blofeld
    stuff was pretty stupid tbh.

    A generous 5/10, resounding meh from me.

    I thought it was pretty good, way better than the last two thank god.

    TBF I don't believe Daniel Craig's legacy has been damaged by this less than memorable film.

    Casino Royale was an outstanding film and as a fine a film as any in the series..right up there with Goldfinger,just after rewatching Skyfall...another top class outing,not quite on a par with Casino Royale.

    However Spectre is a superior film imo to Quantum of Solace which was really awful.Craig overall has impressed me greatly in the Bond role irrespective of whither he returns.

    Will get to see SPECTRE this coming week. I agree Craig's legacy as Bond is solid and he has given us at least 2 classics in Casino Royale and Skyfall. Will judge SPECTRE when I see it and it has gotten mixed reviews as has Skyfall (which I think is one of the all time best Bonds) for that matter! Quantum of Solace was ok with me. Certainly not a classic Bond film but it did what it said on the tin as a non-stop action film even if it had the least bad bad guy since The Man With The Golden Gun.

    What I like about Craig's films too is the continuity. Previous films for the most part had a set story that more or less started and ended in the film. The real world would be more like what Craig's Bond does: dealing with a set of related criminals involved in related terrorist groups. One cannot switch off previous events and the deaths of people close to Bond like M and Vesper would take their toll.

    Indeed! It's all related even more than you think as you will soon find out. Enjoy the film :)

    Went to see Bond in all his finest last night. . . Paid extra for Sony 4K !!
    Vue Cinema Liffey Valley.
    Quality was simply abysmal :(
    Screen was permanently out of focus with a permanent grey shadow on the screen (screen 6).
    Was akin to vhs quality of old.
    Nowhere close to dvd quality, nowhere close to blu ray quality and not in anyway 4K . . .
    As alot of the film has night time scenes the poor quality was even more exacerbated!
    Best save your squids - €65 in my case (2 adults, 4 teenieboppers) - wait for Blu Ray release - the quality claims will at least be honest :(

    I don't know if much has changed since the revamp, but Screen 6 in Vue used to be one of five 3D screens. 2D films look terrible in them since they can't swap out the polarised lenses resulting in significant light loss. I assume the resolution would also be half since 3D filters split the image, meaning it was probably 2k. The 2D screens look great.

    Saw this. Utter rubbish from first moment until the last. Worse than skyfall if possible.

    Fallen a hard fall since Casino Royale

    I thought this was OK, much better than Skyfall, but that wouldn't be saying much.

    Skyfall is my favorite Bond films, so I went to watch Spectre with lower expectations as I didn't think it could be as good.

    Overall I found it good, very few moments of boredom and the 2 1/2 hours passed easy enough.
    Quite predictable at times, a Bond by numbers as a few people said in this thread.
    I thought that even in the slower moments where nothing was really happening, there was a sense of anticipation and I was looking forward to what would come next.

    I would also like a bit more of Christoph's Waltz character - I liked the relaxed approach as a villain, but I thought he was underused.

    Overall more positives than negatives and a good addition to the series.

    Now that is definitely going to far. Two days on from seeing it, there are several great moments that spring to mind:
    - The continuous shot of bond jogging over the rooftops at the start;
    - The surprise of seeing the old M in the video - in Bond's apartment no less!
    - The fight on the train was pretty intense;
    - The first time we see Blofeld, half in shadow, just whispering to his minions - that was very cool;
    - The car chase was pretty darn cool as well, and the way Bond just abandons the car;
    - The fact that the action didn't stay too long in the "lair" - it wasn't one of those drawn out sequences with endless explosions (just one big one);
    - Most of Qs bits were very good - I also liked that M came out fighting on Bond's behalf - he's not just a "bureaucrat";
    - Bond following the clues in MI6 to find Blofeld standing behind the glass - I wasn't sure if we'd see him again;
    - The end again leaves a lot open - will he be back? If so, will Dr Swann be at his side, as a kick ass secret agent for him to team up with?

    Worst idea EVER :D

    the message from Judi Dench's M was a joke and makes zero sense, just lazy writing and Ralph's M fighting on Bond's behalf? Wasn't he trying to shut down the 00 branch in Skyfall?

    Spectre was definitely Daniel Craig's worst bond film. It had a happy ending fr god sake. I didn't think the film was great. Sky fall and casino royal are streets ahead of this film in my opinion.

    I thought Spectre was a decent bond movie, nothing spectacular by any means. It was a big improvement on Skyfall which was absolute rubbish.

    Decent movie, I really enjoyed it up until the scenes in the crater
    liked the reveal of the White cat, but the "I love you" was out of nowhere I felt, at the end I thought they'd have him walk away and it would have fit better.

    Also, if he needs 48 hrs under the radar why drive from London to Rome?

    I liked the film but it was overall quite underwhelming.

    There was a little bit too many retro bond cliches that worked in their day but not so much nowadays.

    I'd give it a solid 3 of 5.

    Thought the movie was fantastic.

    Wasn't expecting much having read the reviews here beforehand but was pleasantly surprised.

    Great movie - 5/5!

    Got to see Spectre today and thought it was great.

    After seeing it, i thought it was the perfect finale for Daniel Craig if this is indeed his last Bond movie. Spectre is on a par with Casino Royale and Skyfall, certainly much better than QOS.

    If Craig finishes here, he goes out on a high with his story arc completed, I kind of hope he calls it a day here and 'leaves em wanting more'.

    I liked the movie but how about a decent plot for a change?

    Bond is tasked by the British government with assisting the security services of a fictional oil rich Gulf nation led by the charismatic Sheikh Yusuf after a visiting British government minister and his entourage are killed by jihadists. After Bond saves Yusuf from an assassination attempt he pursues the female assassin who turns out to be the daughter of Yusuf's estranged brother Khalid who died in a car accident before he could inherit the throne of his late father. Fatima is a member of an underground movement seeking democracy and it is revealed Yusuf is playing a double game - pretending to be a Western ally but secretly developing a nuclear weapons program with the help of Spectre and arming Islamic terrorists around the world. Yusuf and not Fatima and her organization were the real culprits of the assassination of the British minister. While Bond is snooping at one of Yusuf's headquarters he finds blueprints of a secret nuclear base. A nuclear scientist is assassinated by an Israeli hit team but are captured and fed alive to Yusuf's pride of lions. Yusuf believes he will be the ruler of a global Caliphate. After he only barely escapes Bond and Fatima work together to infiltrate Yusuf's secret base and destroy it before he can hit Washington, Moscow, Tel Aviv, Teheran, New Dehli and Beijing with nuclear missiles. A crack commando force of karate kicking hajib wearing babes kick the asses of the jihadist henchmen and Bond goes after Yusuf and kills him before he can open the oil taps and release a flood of raw crude into the Persian Gulf so he can set in it on fire and paralyze world shipping lanes. After Yusuf is dead and a popular uprising overthrows his henchmen Bond wants to take Fatima to bed but Fatima says she is a devout Muslim and she must lead her country to democracy.

    If Spectre is 2h 30m I think we could do without cinemas running the 25 mins of ads before the screening starts. :eek:

    Enjoyed the movie but jesus, the lead in time before the movie starts is just ridiculous. I timed it at around 30 minutes at a recent Odeon showing I was at, and their stupid own ads and infomercials really angry up the blood.

    One funny plot hole perhaps:
    When Moneypenny visits his apartment, she asks "have you just moved in?" to which he replies "no". But didn't the old M in Skyfall tell Bond they'd sold his flat, standard procedure on the death of an unmarried agent with no next of kin? :)

    Also, when did Bond become classed as "an assassin"? This was mentioned a few times in the movie. I thought he was a spy...

    Did you ever see him meet a bad guy he didn't kill? He does a bunch of murderin'. Enough to qualify as an assassin.
    It's fair to assume that Bond got a new place to live since the events of Skyfall, which could have been a reasonable period of time ago.
