At 29, he'd have a good run if he did get it. Would he be the youngest to get the role? I wouldn't mind seeing someone grow through the role, I think they could get away with doing a young inexperienced Bond without doing the whole Vesper thing again.

This is beginning to sound more like an elaborate negotiating strategy by the studio to tell Craig if he doesn't accept the 'meagre' €68 million, then they have an alternative or two lined up.

Sam Mendes not taking Bond 25. Kathryn Bigelow would be my suggestion - first they'd deal with any tedious "why shouldn't a woman direct a Bond film" ****e and second I think she'd add something to the canon with her lean style.

Would also be the first American (not counting Irvin Kershner's rogue Bond)

We have been here before: Connery said after Thunderball, he was not returning to the role. He did 3 more. Moore said For Your Eyes Only was his last. He did 2 more. You could say both these were not as tied to the story arc of the series as Craig currently is. In fact, the series at present is all about continuing where the previous film ended in a way never seen before. So would not be surprised to see Craig do one possibly two more.

SPECTRE reminds me of season 4 of Love/Hate. It is all about setting things up and holding back on some things so as to prepare the scene for the followup. Season 4 and 5 of Love/Hate of course made excellent viewing when watched in succession. SPECTRE and its followup film hopefully can achieve the same and I think we do ideally need to have Craig as part of the action.

As regards to directors, I think Martin Campbell is the man to be brought back. He is the director of Goldeneye and Casino Royale, 2 of the best Bond films ever. He would be ideal for a film with a new Bond actor as he successfully launched Brosnan and Craig. Furthermore, the villain in Skyfall is a direct copy of the one in Goldeneye (an ex 00 agent who turns bad after getting disfigured). Campbell knows the territory and he could seen out Craig's era in a classic finale of the SPECTRE/Quantum sage and then introduce a new Bond successfully too.

If Craig did come back, I'd like it to be a really tight, lean, 90 minute film, all set in London, taking place over 24 hours, all about the "final trap" that Blofeld has set for him.

Perhaps Blofeld escapes or is mortally wounded and decides to throw everything he has at Bond. Bond has to fight his way out, I don't mean just physically but with some nice Q computer hacking, with M and Moneypenny rushing around London at night sort of thing uncovering clues and helping him out. That'd be fun.

That kind of film would be good. Perhaps, the start could be Bond going back home to his London home to be confronted by a Blofeld henchman. Have all the usual pre-title fights, chases and shootouts. It could move on then to Bond enjoying some time off with Madeleine and meanwhile Blofeld breaking out of prison. Bond and Madeleine could be walking in Hyde Park enjoying themselves and then all hell could break loose with perhaps Blofeld capturing Madeleine and setting Bond up for an 'easy' revenge that actually becomes a trap. Bond then battles his way out and is helped by M & Q who also end up captured. Blofeld describes a plan to destroy London and reveals he is dying from a wound. Bond escapes and then dispatches a few Blofeld henchmen in a chase. He then decides to hit Blofeld with all he has, stop his dastardly plan and rescue M, Q and (if we want a happy ending) Madeleine. Perhaps it would be interesting to have Madeleine as a multi-film Bond girl for a change? Bond then kills Blofeld and he, Madeleine, M & Q walk away satisfied.
