Daily Slaughter of dolphins in Taiji Japan

Just thought I'd bring this issue to people awareness. Ever since I watched the documentary 'The Cove' last year I can;t stop thinking of the terrible cruelty that dolphins and pilot whales are put through each killing season in Taiji Japan. It goes on from Sept to March every year and is currently happening right now.

If you are any way interested in these gorgeous intelligent mammals, please have a look at the some of these groups on facebook. They have sent monitors or 'cove guardians' to this cove in Taiji to witness, observe and document the horrible cruelty that goes on here for 6 months of the year.

You can view up to the minute details and photos on these pages.

Even if only one of you lends your voice to these campaigns, it will help. Hopefully one day this horrible practice will end. I just hope it's not when they've killed all the dolphins in that area.

Are you as concerned about rats or crows or is it just the pretty ones?

    Dolphins revenge,

Radiation will get the better of those that consume them.

Does Dan Marino still play for them?

If you say it will then it's definitely true. How did the whole world ending at the Olympics go?

Poor cockroaches have no facebuke campaign to halt the senseless year round killing season.

There is a bit of a difference between a rat and a dolphin:rolleyes:

Some of the footage and info released in the cove was pretty shocking. It's a few years old now though

How about sheep, cows, chickens or any other animal you eat? The question was more "Do you only care about the pretty ones" than anything else. What's the distinction?

Completely agree, but it's not the fact that they are killing them, it's how they are killing them.

It's inhumane, absolute torture & cruelty...
I don't mind that they kill dolphins, but maybe they should find a different way of doing it

The same can be said for the way a lot of factories kill the animals WE eat. I'm not denying that it's cruel, but people get so worked up about dolphins because they're dolphins. If it was a pig I don't think people would feel so outraged or upset.

EDIT: By we, I mean the western civilisation.

I wouldn't kill a human.I was just wondering why people get worked up about some animal cruelty and not others.

I get your point, but sometimes slaughtering certain animals is just wrong.
Maybe its not logical, but dolphins have a level of intelligence and personality that makes mass slaughter wrong in my opinion
I would throw in most ape species in with the dolphins too

Yeah I completely agree with you on that one.

So if I can get a chicken to do sums I can't eat it?

If there's no logic, it's just "A feeling." If you think intelligence makes it wrong to eat dolphins, then you can't say it's just the level of intelligence. What if I found a really stupid dolphin, can I eat that one?

The pseudo-activism kind of bugs me a little. It's like people who pick and choose what part of the bible to follow, or pick 'n' mix feminism.

Maybe because they're a higher order group of animals and also one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet. They have also been responsible for saving many many humans lost at sea. In many ways they possess more humanity than the people slaughtering them (all ways really).
