Some very localised lightning strikes coming from Connemara, its not forked but all 3 have been from the same point on the compass (180), and not wide sheet lightning that we often get high-up in the sky. Does this make sense?!

Indeed it does, there's a narrow but heavy shower over Connemara at the moment. Heading in the general direction of the city but it'll probably lose its intensity quickly as it moves inland

Looking at PWS on WU the two stations near Butonport and Malin are reporting 5˚c, you must be inland from the coast - obviously you can't be inland from anywhere else.

1C here in Ballyhaunis as well - clear skies and damp roads :-(

Can't believe the difference in weather between here and Dublin. Was blue skies and sunny up until the last hour. I could see the dark clouds just to my east all morning but it was sunny overhead. Still dry but I think rain is imminent now.

that shower over Dublin on the radar (1600) looks fairly innocuous but believe me it was heaviest shower I've seen in a very long time, the road outside is like a river and hail lying in the garden looks like a light snowfall.

What a difference a day makes, from sunshine and cold yesterday to gloom and a high temperature at 23.15 today?!?

    Temperature currently 8.1c (daily high)
    Pressure 999 hPa rising
    Wind 5.8kmh, gusting 22.7kmh NNE
