thread here about it from recently enough

ive been doing it for a couple of months.. cant compare results or anything as I only really started taking my weight loss seriously around the same time I started doing IF

what I have noticed is i'm alot more alert in the mornings, more energy too and I quite like the regimented eating times I end up with. eat at noon, lunch 3-4 hours later. dinner around 7-8pm. keeps me from eating at 8am then snacking at 11, lunch at 2, then snacking at 4.. etc etc. makes it easier to figure out what I'm eating during the day

im the same as above poster.. found it it great so far for shifting extra weight but need to gert back on top of the diet...

although i had a really bad bank holiday weekend, (stayed in, beer, wine and loads of rubbish, pizza etc) im back to the healthy living since yesterday..

i find it great especially after a bad weekend, did a 24hr fast till this evening, its no hassle at all as still felt bloated with all the crap from the weekend...

but excercise and good eating is important to get the best results..
had a game of squash yesterday and did boxing today and healthy foods plenty of vedge, chicken etc..

its not for everyone though.. try it and see how u get on

Find it great from time to time to remind me of the difference between hunger and boredom! Always good to get a reminder that I'm perfectly fine going long stretches without eating and it's only the sugar monster telling me I need to snack :(

seems to be mostly positive feedback suppose its worth a try anyway. would people recommend the 24 hour fasting part every 3/4 days or just having 2 meals most other days

And what evidence have you to go on?
I have lost nearly two stone in three months. Like other posters I'm refreshed. I have loads of energy and my diet is clean and nutritious compared to what it was a few months ago.

Another gimmick? Try something before you slate it the next time.

The main advantage to IF for me is that its seems to kill off a lot of my sugar cravings, when i say a lot i mean all of them, I find with IF that its a lot easier to eat a lot cleaner more of the time...if that makes sense, and naturally as a knock on effect the fat loss results are better!

I'm in a similar situation but I take a cheat day on Sunday and find on Sunday evening that I find it hard to resist things like biscuits or sweets or whatever is in the house. On the other days I'm grand

Did a 36 hr fast Friday to Sunday morning.
Hadn't intended doing it but I was very busy Saturday. Funnily enough I cooked dinner on Saturday afternoon but byt the time it came to plate up I found that I wasn't hungry and decided why eat if my body doesn't want food.
Found it easy enough once I drank a lot of water and once I had five days of IF done that week then it was relatively easy

I'm really interested in this, not so much for weight loss but from watching the Michael Moseley (sp) Horizon programme which suggests that Intermittent Fasting helps cells to move to a repair state. A normal diet leaves cells continually switched on to a growth state. Having them in a repair state occasionally is supposed to be enormously benefical for the body in preventing things like diabetes and cancer.

He suggested that the best diet to follow to maximise cells being in a repair state without torturing yourself with hunger is to go on a 5/2 diet.

5 days with a normal diet and 2 where the maximum calorie intake is 600 (500 for women). Is anyone following this diet and what are their experiences ?

I'm doing it for the past 6 weeks, I just fast completely 1 day a week.
I have a busy lifestyle (long commute to work, busy job, 2 young kids and 4 pets so I'm always running around like a headless chicken) so cannot handle 2 fast days a week.

On the fast day I drink a lot of water, and have a black coffee at 11, 3 and 5. The day before, I have dinner at 8PM and eat nothing through the next day, until dinner again at 8PM.
I enjoy the mental challenge of not eating during the day, I get a lot more work done because I'm not grazing or going out for food. It gets hard about 3PM, I keep myself busy to keep my mind off food.

One caveat is that I don't fast if I have to drive a long distance, in case there is a mental deterioration or tiredness, I haven't been doing it long enough to take this risk.

I am low on spare time and hate preparing food, so simply not eating is win win for me.
I save time and effort, I get a mental workout, I lose weight over time, and all the other benefits that IF have been found to bring.

In my life I have eaten and drank like a pig (reckless youth) and had weeks where I barely slept (first child barely spent at night due to certain health problems) so I think if my body can tolerate this abuse, it can handle 24 hours (7 of which I am sleeping) of not eating.
