the season has been in a while now and from what ive seen myself and heard from friends and even on here
theres feck all deer been shot and very little deer with decent heads
if ya look back over the photos thread over the years
there less and less quality in it

from what ive seen so far this season is all im meeting are does with fawns and prickets not a sign of a decent head ( unless the picture is taken in the killarney national park :D )
but i do notice lots of damage done to forestry when inside the woods even more than usual
it seems there spending more time in cover grazing as theres a lot of grass in there
might be down to poaching or more people hunting that has them spooked i dont no

anyone else seeing this kind of a pattern or different behaviour

I've been out 2-3 times a week in the mountains after sika have met some very big sika in very remote moutain areas but didn't shoot them due to distance from jeep. Haven't seen any big deer closer to tracks, paths or farm yards in Kerry. If u want the big ones you will have to travel out the mountains in my opinion as the forestries are being hunted too much driving the deer out the hills. But in parts of cork I've been meeting nice sika bucks in fields around farms with small covers.

We have seen some fine fallow heads on the open morning and another one on the morning when we shot a pricket.

There is a group of 4 fine heads wandering around but dont see the point in shooting one of them before the rut. We'll let them fight it out and spread the genes first.

Started off slow this year, but for the first time in 4 years or more actually seeing good numbers, and a nice few príckets, and bucks.

I'm putting it down to the new permissions we got this year. The land comprises of 4 farmers that for the last 15 years have allowed no shooting of any kind on their land. It's like a nature preserve.

On my other permissions the numbers are average to low with Does making up the vast majority of deer been seen.
