I don't seem to have that much of a problem with Metformin bar the indigestion. That's a bloody killer on me :o

Really bad nausea mozz and very frequent trips to the loo. Feel rotten.

Plenty of water should help with indigestion. Really hope all this goes soon

I had to stop taking the metformin.
The pains and cramps were too much and embarrassed to post(don't know how to annon) I have had two accidents in the last two days. ;( and feel like puking all the time.

I've had to double up IBD meds.

Due back to gynea next week will ask about the slow release version.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience with/could recommend a good GP in the Midlands area for PCOS? I've had PCOS for the past ten years and have tried a few of different GPs to no avail. I'm just finding the whole thing very frustrating at the minute.

I don't present with a lot of the "typical" PCOS sympoms.....I'm not overweight, don't have the acne/excess hair. My only symptoms are irregular periods and hair loss. I was put on the pill (Dianette) when I was diagnosed and the hair loss seemed to settle down a lot but I was changed to Yasmin a couple of years ago. The hair loss has begun to get worse lately to the point where I can notice that it has thinned out a lot, and have some very light patches. My hairdresser has also noticed. I went back to my GP and asked if it could be to do with changing the pill but she said that that wouldn't have made a difference. She ran the usual iron and thyroid tests and they came back clear so as far as she's concerned that's it, I just have to put up with the hair loss.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has similar symptoms and found anything that was particularly helpful or like I said if anyone could recommend a good GP that actually seems to know something about the condition.....if I hear one more time from a GP "You don't look like someone with PCOS" or "Most people with PCOS don't tend to lose their hair, they tend to have excess hair"....I know this is the case a lot of the time but it's just so frustrating when that's all the GPs I've attended have to say.

    Any help/advice greatly appreciated!!

    (Sorry for the rant! :-D)
    Hi,

I know this thread is a few years old so not sure if my reply will even be seen. I had a scan about 12 years ago and was told I was suggestive of PCOS. I had slightly irregular periods, infertility issues, fatigue, weight gain, IBS symptoms and the start of hair loss. I tried metformin but found the side effects too much so stopped taking it. Over the last few years the hair loss and other symptoms just became worse and so I was sent for a 2nd scan only to be told that I do not have PCOS. I have had blood tests done and all have come back clear. I am currently seeing an endocrinologist in St. Vincent's and he is querying fibromyalgia which I think is ridiculous and I have no pain symptoms and this would not explain the hair loss. I'm wondering if anyone found that losing weight helped with the hair loss or reversed the hair loss?

    Hi There Anna1976

I have had diagnosed PCOS for about 7 years now. I didn't necessarily have cysts or anything but the symptoms definitely pointed so thats what they diagnosed me as.
I slowly lost 2 stone over the year (more to go) and I've found that my hair loss almost reversed with the odd flare up when I'm stressed / hormonal
My periods have normalised as well thankfully since the weight loss with only one trip to A&E that was PCOS related... I've a plethora of things wrong with me !
It doesn't go away unfortunately for me and the symptoms rear their ugly head from time to timebut it has helped control it. I'm no longer on Metformnin or Dianette

Chin up missus and stick to your guns with the doctors x

    Thanks m-a-I,

I'm back with the endocrinologist in a few months so we'll see how that goes. In the mean time I need to concentrate on losing some weight.
