Just heard it on Newstalk there.. People are asked to avoid the M50 as it's slow moving because of what Gardaí described as a personal tragedy.... Did somebody jump off one of the bridges?

"Gardai are advising drivers to avoid the M50 motorway in Dublin – near the Blanchardstown exit – tonight.

Serious traffic jams are reported after an incident this evening.

The road is blocked after what Gardai are describing as a “personal tragedy”.

Gardai are advising motorists to avoid Junction 6 Blanchardstown and for Southbound drivers to exit at Junction 5 Finglas."

I think it's pretty obvious what they mean. Details must not really be necessary at this time considering they haven't already been released.

Somebody's pet rabbit hopped on to the motorway?

The Garda will prob not give a statement about it until they has resolved it and if it is a body they will not give statement until family is informed
I think that's how it works

The M50 must be the shittiest motorway in Ireland.

It's inhabited by the some of the worst drivers in the country, has a stupidly low speed limit, an over-priced toll, and doesn't even go anywhere nice.

Drove over M50 interchange about an hour ago. Garda vehicle blocking the filter lane onto south bound M50 and when we went over the M50 on N3, there were a lot of blue lights down on the south bound side. Too far away to see anything, probably a bit before where the toll cameras are.

Rumours abound on FB and twitter that a body was thrown from a car. Probably all lies but fairly big garda presence around.

Incident after J6 Blanch - AA website

There is an incident blocking the M50 southbound after J6 Blanchardstown
Updated: 09/10/2012 22:29:44 Gardai are at the scene and motorists are advised to exit at J5 Finglas

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 24,012 Mod ✭✭✭✭TICKLE_ME_ELMO

The traffic cams on the DCC website only show the roundabout at the M50, which would be quiet as nothing can get on or off at that exit.

The camera at Blanchardstown stopped updating at 23:10 or thereabouts.

Probably same as AA roadwatch, by the time they announce a traffic jam, it's cleared.

My bad, DCC we are talking about I forgot. Can't even organize a few real time cameras. You swear we actually live in the stone age in Ireland.

They quite likely shut them down or froze them at a certain time if there is something upsetting there?
