Wow, that's serious money. I sold my empties last wk for €540 out of the parlour, and was v happy with that. Would u be worried that 15 out of ur 20 empties were 1st and 2nd calvers?

Are ye selling them straight out of the Parlour, or will ye dry off first

Sold straight out of parlour, they averaged E580 all of them were over 8years,its just suit me rather than fattening them but if you have the space its def a opition

V similar figures to me, a v disappointing 12.5% empty here. And more annoying over 95% submission in first 6 wks. Def a bout of embryonic loss around late june/early july. Just not sure what caused it.

Any idea what ur milk urea levels were like on average for july/august.I was grazing a reseed for last few days and got a urea level just below 70.Beteween 30 and 40 for last few weeks and all over place for summer but that was a test issue

Cows milked way better this year here (better yeilds and solids), on less meal, however the milk urea never really got much over 30, which was a surprise, last year it was regularly up above 50.

Talking about milk urea, Its annoying that Glanbia don't have it displayed on agrilink, I have to look back at the milk dockets to see a record of it.

No, we don't get urea levels routinely tested around here. It's only done in the Munster herd health programme, but that's only 2 or 3 samples in the yr.

was talking to a lad the other night he was saying looking back at last years dockets cows are milking a lot better now. I said would you not just look on agrilink. He never heard of it. He's a GLANBIA supplier
