Just published by the Student Union on Facebook:
"A significant number of students are reporting that they have not received their timetables. We were assured by College last week that every student would be sent their timetable via an email from their school or department. Any student who has not receievd an email from their school by Monday morning should contact either president@tcdsu.org or communications@tcdsu.org. Some schools may have only listed timetables on department noticeboards and so we would also advise that any student who does not receive their timetable by Monday morning should try check the department noticeboards to avoid missing classes while College resolves the problem."

Ironic to think of students complaining when it's a case of not being able to go to class because of College but come week 2 of term and beyond, when all the timetable issues have been resolved, will you go to all of your classes?

And yes, I do understand that it's quite inconvenient to be in this situation. No one likes to be in limbo.

Im a js repeating for medical reasons. I've been on to my school about timetables for the past 3 months to try and make sure my name would be on the list for subject choices since my medical repeat was being processed...I was constantly informed that choice forms were being emailed "shortly" it seems trinitys defininition of shortly translates to never. I've managed to get get a basic timetable through my schools website but since I'm tsm and there were no subject forms sent they never took into account that tsm students have another subject and so I've ended up with clashes in my timetable...school said this would be sorted and they revised the timetable - still have clashes! Emailed the head of the department asking about it since the admin staff didn't seem to give a ****, he replied and then ignored once I pointed out the clash... I think this thing of not informing students is a absolute joke, I told the school I was pretty terrified of having a clash after the year I've been through, I feel so let down by the school- yes there are issues with the new system and that's fair enough, what's not fair is the complete lack of communication with the students, far from being spoonfed I've done above what should be asked of a student, bringing this matter to the senior tutor/ dean because this really an absolute disgrace. I'm in danger of losing my job now since I don't have hours I can work and if I do lose it I won't be able to pay the second installments of my contribution...

Did they contact the department head or just the office? Because I'd be very surprised if that particular department head would just brush off a whole class who didn't know where they were timetabled for the first week of term.

Surely the lecturers themselves will know when they are teaching?

The problem here is that the whole college is affected, not just one or two courses. Its a bit of a disaster!

Luckily someone got onto her and she was nice enough to give us a draft for the 1st week.
Still would've saved some hassle if the office had helped us in the first place. If that student hadn't gone to the department head last minute on Friday, we would've gotten no timetable.
Poor organisation by the college really considering that according to the Student's Union last night, all departments were meant to have e-mailed the timetables to the courses over the past week when the college realised the central timetable system wouldn't be ready. I guess it didn't help that IS Services decided that this week would be the perfect week to get rid of the existing class mailing lists.

Well, just a tip for your class rep, if you're not successfully with the office, go above them and go to the department head. There is a new person working in the office so I would assume she doesn't know the ins and outs of things. Also, the head might not know what's going on either.

I still haven't got a reply from SUSU regarding the class mailing lists.

From what I've heard, my department were only given the timetable on Friday (as in the lecturers didn't/don't have it either) and so didn't have time to email it out to students. So in some cases, it mightn't be individual departments to blame either.

Just seems to be a college-wide communication failure. Kind of ironic when you consider that the new system was supposed to improve communication :pac:

I'm in TSM Spanish and we haven't got our timetables yet, so it's probably because the department hadn't got them on time. I've been told that some Spanish timetables have been stuck up on the noticeboard outside the department (Arts Block, 5th floor), so have a look there in the morning :)
