Well I'm standing in my kitchen with the gravy pouring off me... Only one word INTERVALS!!
    Oh my god, phew!!!
I decided to opt for the treadmill this morning as weather is baaaaaad out there today and I still have not fully gotten over this cold. Anyway I did 10 mins warm up at 8k then hiked her up to 12 for barely a min then back down for 3 and repeated several times. All done at a 2% incline. Man it was TOUGH! I know I should have repeated 8 times but I could only manage 5 but I will do better next time.
Going to try 7 miles on Sunday with no pressure. It's all great!!

Going to do 10 miles and keep that as my base, got the forerunner 405 a little awkward to use what your Garmin profile name

No! Got my ELVIS rejection magazine yesterday, a bit gutted I have to say. Im unsure now what to do, try and get a charity place or opt for either the Manchester or Edinburgh marathons. I kind of had my mind set on London though... Sad face

If I cant get into London what is the next biggest UK marathon, I like the idea of running in a crowd, there will at least be some behind me!!!

    OMG!!!
I have taken the leap and registered for the Edinburgh Marathon May 26 2013.
    :eek::eek::eek:
I checked out the Charity places for London, and they all more or less need you to raise £2,000 or more and in this economic climate that would be hard.
    What have I done?
    :o

Considering doing Edinburgh myself, depending on how winter training goes. Will be keeping an eye on how your own training for it goes, best of luck!

Wouldn't mind doing Edinburgh myself. My brother lives over there. It'd be a good excuse to go and visit!:)

Now that i have a definite place and end goal I can concentrate on my plan! The official Hal Higdon 18 week novice plan has me starting end of January, so I'm going to slowly build up my long Sunday runs each week and do some interval training too. Between now and Christmas how many times a week will you guys run? I'm nervous/scared/excited/brown trousers all at the same time

Congrats on taking up the challenge! :p

I did my first marathon on 3 to 4 days a week running, with 1 day swimming and 1 day yoga. The usual advice applies - ramp up slowly and don't increase the mileage (# days) and the pace (intervals/ tempo) at the same time. You've lots of time to build it up between now and Jan so enjoy!

You'll have a ball. Was in Edinburgh a few years ago at marathon time (not running though) and it's a great city and there was a great atmosphere about for the event.

Well it's a Sunday morning and that can only mean one thing... Run time!!
My snazzy new beanie and leggings arrived mid week so I was all ready to embark on my next challenge.. EDINBURGH 2013!!
    YEAH!!!!
7 hilly miles done, however the legs felt a bit heavy today, likely getting back into it again after a light running week. The worst bit was the last quarter mile home, let's just say there were "bathroom" issues and leave it at that...
Feeling positive and glad I'm over this cold.

Yes it's mostly a flat marathon, but its still 26.2 miles!! Gulp...,
Just in from a wee 3 miler did some faster spurts here and there, it's tough!
Tomorrow I plan to do 45 mins intervals on treadmill and 8 miles on Sunday.

Great! I was trying to find a flattish route for today's 8 miler, the first few miles were good and I was running anywhere between 10.50 min mile and 11.17 min mile, that was great for me till I hit mile 5 and took and wrong turn, ended up a road that had a steep gradient warning sign on it!!! So that stopped my gallop. Didn't feel too bad today, mid week I spent a hellish 45 mins on TM doing intervals... Ugh! Absolutely all of my running is done in the countryside, what about you?

I like to keep it varied but with the early nights I keep to the roads, I will try to do runs three times a week read that if you even take a week off it will affect you. Also ditched my music
