    godwin?
the catholic party do not claim you as an active member. they claim you were baptised, which is true.
they do not have your contact details, do not receive a monthly sub from you, do not even know if you're alive or not - unless you were buried in a catholic ceremony. it was something done on your behalf when you were a few months old; no-one is expecting that you did it of your own free will.

No problem to amend it then?

insisting that it be amended is granting it an importance it does not deserve.

The RCC do compile worldwide numbers of Catholics based on numbers baptised
VATICAN CITY, FEB. 21, 2010 - The number of Catholics, including the number of priests and seminarians, is increasing worldwide, especially in Asia and Africa.

These statistics are found in the 2010 “Annuario Pontificio,” or Pontifical
Yearbook, presented Saturday to Benedict XVI by his secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, and Archbishop Fernando Filoni, who is in charge of general affairs for the Secretariat of State.

The compilation of the yearbook -- which will soon be on sale in bookstores
-- was overseen by Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, director of the Central Office of Church Statistics, Enrico Nenna and their collaborators.

In 2008 there were 1.166 billion baptized Catholics worldwide, an increase of 19 million (up 1.7%). Taking into account the increase in the world’s population to 6.7 billion, there is a slight growth in the percentage of Catholics who make up the global population (from 17.33% to 17.40%).

Thru the all embracing RC network they know a hell of a lot more than anyone will ever figure out...every see those little ol ladies that PPs send out to "help the parish" & who turn up at your door with your name inexplicaly on a clipboard...., your kids in school details (schools demanding parental and religous details and just by chance nearly all state run Primary Schools remain under the direction of the the RCC) At least until recently most schools would insist on baptisimal details etc for any prospective students....They are not one of the richest organisations in the world for nothing.
