Because you seem to equate being a Celtic fan to acting like you do in this thread.
After all, you're not 'intolerant' towards Rangers, you're just being a Celtic fan innit

Nobody's forcing you to read my 'drivel' either.

im responding to your drivel because you are making up stuff about me. I pulled u on a few things already and you just ignored it, nothing new from you. you going to defend the scarf or are you going to continue muckraking about me because you've nothing useful to contribute

I dont speak for other people, my point was that you wont find me 'liking' rangers or sevco. it doesn't make me intolerant or whatever way you want to paint me. youre making a fool of yourself again

I'm not making up anything, you show your hatred for Rangers every chance you get and you have the cheek to call others intolerant.

Not only that, but when I comment on it you seem to act as if it's because you're a Celtic fan. Despite plenty of other Celtic fans both on here and out there in the real world not even coming close to your level of bitterness.

As for 'ignoring' stuff, I already commented on that scarf.
Or did you 'ignore' that ?
you're showing your true colours now Jelle. people who think sectarianism is ok aren't worth talking to

Ah, the good old 'sectarianism' tag.
Where exactly is the 'sectarianism' here ? Out of place or misguided would be correct, but there's nothing sectarian about insulting an IRA member like Sands.

As for 'showing my true colours', I've heard that plenty of times on here
I don't have to justify myself to people that don't know me, if you think I'm such a big bad bigot then feel free to put me on your ignore list.

so you think its perfectly normal acceptable behaviour?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

I wonder is it possible to have a normal debate in either the Rangers or Celtic threads, without it turning into a "he said, she said" sectarian slagging match?

I've no allegiance either way, but to me it appears that it's mainly Celtic fans coming into the Gers thread here trying to get a reaction. It's all just a bit petty.

    Ridiculous post.

You actually want Celtic fans to ignore that sectarian display at Ibrox yesterday?

I'm all for letting Rangers and their fans do what they want, sing what they want etc... but you think there's something wrong in highlighting it?

I thought sectarianism was wrong but you're having a dig at people highlighting it and not the people partaking in it. Odd that.

Meanwhile Jelle can't answer a simple question put to him multiple times.

Usually happens when someone poses with or sings or acts sectarian. It is not hard to understand that people will point it out. I imagine it will be the same at other clubs

Wait for the Newco vs 'it's the same team' argument to come around again. That's always great craic!

Newco vs oldco will never happen as oldco are not around to play in the grudge match :pac:

Me being critical of Rangers or Sevco doesnt make me intolerant. I havent criticised them for anything I wouldnt criticise any other club for, including Celtic. Where is the intolerance in being critical? I keep asking for something more than accusations and you keep coming up with waffle.

As for your comments on the scarf, its ignorance and intolerance at its finest. Didnt think anyone would try to defend it but you've dug your heels in now!

There was nothing sung that is deemed sectarian by the authorities, and that is all that matters surely ?

Looks like the authorities may get involved - and so they should if they are to be seen to be remotely even handed in dealing with matters of this nature.:

    alex thomson ‏@alextomo 2m
MOD:“We are aware that Police Scotland are investigating an allegation relating to the behaviour of some fans at Saturday’s game."

    alex thomson ‏@alextomo 1m
MOD: “Any personnel found to have fallen short of the Armed Forces’ values and standards will be dealt with by the chain of command and, if necessary, by the police.”..."

I'd say that's standard if complaints come in about their people.

I don't think that much will happen (and rightly so), maybe a slap on the wrist of the guys with the scarf.

Just so I'm clear on this... you're not complaining about sectarianism but complaining about those who are complaining about sectarianism? Political correctness gone mad.

Let me get this straight. I despise the song so we will get this out the road. So the RA are not a sectarian organisation am I right ? But singing about one if there volunteers is sectarian. Could you explain because it seems to me as per normal Tic fans want it both ways

    Are we ignoring the photos?

The singing was sectarian according to some (not all) news reports, it's definitely offensive to plenty which makes it completely inappropriate.

Either way it was at best distasteful and was a complete embarrassment to the club and the military.

The club tried to play to certain type of fan and it's backfired badly, That said the individuals involved are responsible for their own behaviour.

I have no idea why any right thinking person would defend that stuff.

On a lighter note. Was there no canon this year, these classy events aren't the same without a cannon.

The scarf was a disgrace and the army personnel certainly should not have been singing matter what feelings they have about Sands and should be reprimanded but I stand by my statement regarding the singing about Sands. But the hypocrisy of some people never ceases to amaze me

I'm not sure who you think is being hypocritical BBE, there clearly was sectarian behaviour at the match.

Exactly how much of the behaviour was sectarian and how much was just offensive is splitting hairs.

I'm glad this event is shown up for what it is , an excuse for the club to appease a certain section of fans.

You wouldn't find me defending Celtic if they had an equivalent 'celebration'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

So still nobody able to say what exactly was sectarian about the songs ?

I would agree if you said that they should have left their ideas about Sands out of it (As BBE said), but that's not sectarian. Not even close.

On another note, the accounts have been published.

Seems like they tried to spin it in a good way, but this is disastrous reading.

    http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/5195-rangers-announce-annual-results

    Most important facts from this:

    * Staff costs are £18 million of which only £8 million is the playing squad.
    * £14 million loss
    * £11 million in the bank as of June 30th 2013
    * Sponsorship income of only £820.000

Sectarian dancing, what utter ****e from the usual suspects.

That scarf was wrong though, idiots.

There is absolutely nothing sectarian about singing that line about Bobby Sands either, get over yourselves ffs.

    Permanently offended by nothing.

The whole fuss is about the supposedly sectarian songs though, I think we've all established that the scarf was stupid and those posing with it should be reprimanded.

Whatever my thoughts on Rangers, it sickens me to see the likes of Green come into a club in trouble, promise the sun, moon and stars, and walk away with a nice pay packet, leaving the club in as bad, if not worse shape. It's wrong, and shouldn't be allowed happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,521 ✭✭✭bobmalooka

Green is a parasite who bled ye when ye needed a leader, unfortunately looking at the figures released today the club will continue to be bled to line the pockets of the clubs directors and the likes of mc coist.

Rangers needs a complete overhaul and I'll say it again the overpriced SPL players ye don't need and dancing soldiers is just a big distraction while a select few line their pockets and send ye towards another insolvency.

    Wake up rangers fans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

I'd say Rangers fans are awake enough, given the fact that the protest at the last game was joined in by all sides of the ground.

    The AGM will be crucial.

Some fans actually think your financial results were good!

Your non-playing wages are higher than your players wages, you're being ridden rotten here and so far your fans have done what exactly?

Threats and intimidation to those trying to uncover what's actually happening at your club.

You keep using what happened a year ago as to some form of current events.

Sons of Struth, the RST,... are all working to help rid us of the people currently in charge, with the aim of getting it done at the AGM.

Now, we could all of course resort to staying away or throwing Mars bars like certain other clubs, but I'd rather not.

Jelle1880 - complains about bring up events from 1 year ago by mentioning events from almost 20 years ago!
