Nonsense spouted by a few fans but when someone tries to point out nonsense spouted by the owner of your club it's obsession???

Can't have it both ways BBE

    No.
Over the last few days, fans of your club - and sections of the scottish media - have questioned the professionalism of Stuart McCall and the Motherwell FC due to a result against Rangers.
It's only natural that any fan would pay attention to the next game, which just so happens to be against your club, to see how this has affected their mentality.

    Obsession? I doubt it pal.

And over the last few months the owner of your club has made stupid statements alleging bigotry and agendas being the reason why Rangers were being punished, I'm sure you agree it's only natural for fans to take an interest and challenge this?

It's not like Rangers fans have never alleged that teams lie down when playing Celtic either so it's not like this is new ground.

You say stupid statements a lot of fans feel the same way. Bigotry does not mean in religious terms there are many sorts of bigotry. As for the agenda's he has pointed out certain things that have not been denied by anyone.

As for the teams lying down stuff this has to be taken in context ever since McCall has taken over we have heard the same rubbish so when EB pointed out the stats from the match he showing that the stats for them against you lot were awful hardly the act of a manager getting his team to lie down

It might be the hangover muddying my mind a little, but what does Green have to do with any of this?

A very vocal minority of the Celtic support were outraged by the fact that Motherwell were beaten at Ibrox mid week, to the point that McCall was in the receiving end of some ludicrous lines of questioning in the media.

Yet I am "obsessed" for pointing out the simple fact that motherwell performed even worse against Celtic yesterday?

Not exactly the same thing being beaten by last season's champions to being beaten by a team 2nd in Division 3 though, is it? You aren't comparing like with like.

They have proven SPL players in their squad. I wasn't one bit surprised to hear the result given they were also playing at home.

They could match anyone on their day minus Celtic. That is a damning indictment of the quality of the SPL.

My point is that you're not obsessed but neither are all Celtic fans who discuss situations at Rangers but that is the line thrown out during almost every discussion on the Rangers thread.

So, presumably, you were surprised that they lost to Queen of the South at home. Yet its no surprise that Motherwell were soundly beaten a week later.

I like the way it just so happens the games are against us but when the tables are turned were obsessed and you cant have a simple discussion.

on a serious note Evander Sno suffered a heart attack today whilst playing... i think we all wish him well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,340 ✭✭✭TheBuilder

Yeah terrible about Sno, his second heart attack. His implanted defib saved him.

Think it's time he retired to be honest, he can't take too many chances.

    Hope he gets well soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,918 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Bad news about Sno hopefully make a full recovery but as The Builder said he should probably focus on his health now rather than football.

Agreed not good news at all and there comes a time when his health the most important thing

Yeah I was surprised, that's what made it funny.

    Simple discussion?
What deluded planet do you live on man?

McCall has been getting accused of all sorts of masonic conspiracies this week - even the rags were in on it asking if his team would try harder against Celtic.
That's not simple discussion - that's ****ing disgusting.

All the best to Evander Sno, not nice to see that happen to anyone.

You make out as if this talk on conspiracies is something new in Scottish football, it's being happening for years with accusations on both sides, the open questioning of McCall is maybe a new low(and probably more a display of how poor the Scottish media is) but hardly a massive jump from the normal Aberdeen always up their game v Rangers, Hearts do the same against Celtic that commentators have long mentioned.

For what it's worth I've never bought into any manager sending his team out to go easy v Rangers or Celtic

No - The difference in the Hearts/Celtic, Aberdeen/Rangers issues is that it is thought that those sides RAISE their game against the Celtic/Rangers - not lie down for the others. This is easily possible given the rivalries between the sets of clubs.

McCall has been accused, not for the first time, a section of the Celtic support of basically throwing matches - that's bang out of order imo, and for the press to follow that line of questioning is even worse.

It's certainly not a new thing though, just ask Chris Sutton.

wasn't talking about the McCall conversation as simple discussion, Just like i never said anything negative about McCall ever. I was more referencing the fact that when the tables are turned the reaction is different

But the tables aren't being turned here.
I only took an interest in the Celtic game after the outpouring of accusations towards McCall over the past few days.
I only posted the stats because they quite simply proved that Motherwell arent that good a side, and sure as hell didn't "Lie Down" to anyone.

It all had a connection to Rangers, that's not "obsession".

So you've never heard Rangers fans say Celtic always get an easy game against Aberdeen?? From memory I'm pretty sure it has been said on here in the last year or 2 as has the McCall thing and don't remember you getting so hot under the collar then.

TBH I think you're blowing the whole thing out of proportion because people are trying to take the shine off what was a great win for Rangers.

It was a perfectly valid point for you to make. Ignore the obsession comments from certain idiots. Fans of both clubs are of course interested in the other, its not an obsession, its a perfectly normal part of sporting rivalry. Granted, that rivalry will not be renewed on the pitch for a year or two but it's still a rivalry.

Who appointed you the arbiter of what Celtic fans should or shouldn't say on these threads? I don't think anyone posted anything untoward in those recent exchanges, just opinions. From my viewpoint I reckon Motherwell wanted and tried to win both games against Celtic and Rangers, but failed in both.

What a great performance that was to watch this weekend. Just superb displays from all over the park. The only blip being that we did not add to the 2 first half goals. But it's hard to find fault with much about how we played the game. The passing and build up play was excellent.

Exactly. health can not be replaced by cups, glory, scoring goals...

I hope, he will recover soon.

A professional footballer has roughly 15 years to make as much money as possible. It's tough on Sno that at 25 he probably will have to give it up.

He might get media work or like John Kennedy, get some work with a club. All the best to him.

Then Scott Brown was asked by that Russian journalist if Celtic players watch Braveheart before their games...

SB with a straight face: "Yes we watch Braveheart, and before every game we also put our kilts on and all dance together...

    :)
