What happens when you leave Tus do you get to leave any sort of feedback on you're placement? any forms to fill or just basically sign on straight away

There's a few bits of paperwork. We do an exit interview with each person and get their feedback along with feedback from the host organisation as well as our own feedback. We also supply all paperwork to each person along with a cessation letter. You will need to bring some forms of ID and a recent bank statement. We have an appointment set up for every finisher on the Monday immediately after their finish date. No queuing with general population in the local DSP office; in and out in 15 mins and back into payment from that week. It should be a very straight forward process.

If you leave tus or want to transfer somewhere else, would i have to do the full 12 months in a new placement?

Hi, I received a letter from Social Protection inviting me to participate in a TUS Programme.I only get 60 euro JA payment at the moment,so if I'm participating in this scheme I will get 208? Is it correct? Payment increase to 208 would make a big difference to my situation.

I did a job on TUS scheme before (3 or more years ago) and I loved it.So I don't mind to do it again,I'm just worry about how much payment I might get.

    Thanks.

Nope, you'll get €210.50. Massive increase of late;)

So bottom line, you'll be up €150 per week for your 19.5hrs.

2 different things. Leaving is one thing; moving placement will result in you doing the balance of your 12mths with the new host.

If you just casually up and leave with no reasons other than you don't feel like it anymore, your SW payments could take a hit.

It depends. Some of our participants come into the office where we are based. Other times we will go to the host to visit them periodically. No real set schedule but its nice to check in with them. Better for all concerned.

How long for transfer? I was starting my tus on 18/01/16 and time table does not suit me at all as my husband working full time and baby two years old in the creche till 12:30, I am not flexible, and organisation can't allocated me whenever I want and give me work on my experience, but other organisation invited me, they agree with my hours and they are happy with my skills, which I got during years.

Why didn't you tell them this at the interview!

    Hi Guys

i completed the TUS scheme last June , enjoyed most of it, if you're sitting at home doing nothing and you get the letter, embrace it, it keeps the SW off your back for the Year and you also meet new people and the hours are very handy, i was on the IT team , i did see a mate of mine painting a wall in the freezing cold , so if you have Computer skills you can avoid the barbaric work lol

If you leave or transfer does your team leader or anyone need feedback from that organisation?

Your TL should be getting feedback. If he/she is doing their job, then they should know in advance of any issues resulting in your move/transfer as they sholud be periodically meeting with you both.

I'm both happy and annoyed about TUS.

As per all of my posts ever on this forum, I'll start with the hilarious unfortunate nature of where I'm at. I did 2 years of Level 5 and Level 6 in college on BTEA. I intended on going to Sligo for Level 7 onwards but got denied the student grant (cause being 23...they assume my mum and dad have like 10 grand in total to hand to me or something). So I was taking the year off and intended on going to Scotland (fees covered by SAAS and BTEA allowed). Fantastically, BTEA have only decided this year that they aren't paying for people in other countries outside of Ireland and NI (yet my best mate in Wales will get his continued as he went a year before me...one year made that entire difference...urgh).

So anyways, now I'm on the job hunt in Scotland and applying for jobs in Tesco and stuff which can put me through uni. I didn't work the past year cause I expected to get BTEA so I've done **** all for 12 months. I get asked about a TUS course and wasn't going to do it as I didn't think I could leave early, but the lad on the phone assured me it's fine.

So I go in. First, they almost laugh slightly when they find out I get €60 on JSA considering TUS would put me up to €210. Because of my computing skills, they kind of focus straight away on admin. At the end of the form, the woman mentions web development. She says that they actually might have a few possible ones, but asks if I use code like HTML and stuff. I say yes. She says the problem might be if someone takes over, they won't know anything about coding. She asks if I could use a free online package, and then I could probably work from home.

So in short, €210 a week to use a ready made website service online...from my house. Sounds amazing.

Now the annoying part...why didn't this come a year ago? :( haha. By the time I actually get anything through from TUS, I'm expecting to have found a job in Scotland hopefully by then. Would have been amazing to be up to that money and save a bit of safety net money over the past 12 months.

I've always thought it extremely odd that people can't volunteer for TUS. Surely given the limited number of available places it would be better for all involved to let people who actually want to do the program go on it, instead of forcing others who don't want to do it? I'm sure there would be more than enough people wanting to do it. Especially younger people who would benefit from the payment top-up. Or married people who mightn't be getting the full rate of JSA so would also get a top-up.

Both the participants and organisations would benefit significantly more from a voluntary system I think.

Some areas do allow you to self refer onto TUS. Contact your local office and ask if its possible.

In many counties people can self refer but their case worker in DSP has to agree. The issue is the new turas nua. If you are picked to work with them you can't opt into any scheme.

Tus is suffering from the obviously good reason that the jobs market is improving. The work they do in the community is essential to the survival of many services and facilities.

People CAN volunteer as long as they fulfill the criteria of being in receipt of JA for 12mths. Simple enough process. It's classed as self referral and has been in place for a while now.

I don't want to go down the media route or any of that malarkey. I just want to know what the situation is regarding me or indeed any other person in similar circumstances actually having to work in them conditions full stop.

I've said it to my supervisor that I thought it wasn't on but he just hopped into the work van and drove off.

My job involves walking in front of a tractor that has a hedge cutter on the back cutting the ditches/hedges on the side of the road. This is always in a fairly rural isolated area.

I have to put out signs, check the ditches/hedges for rocks, wire or any other debris that might cause damage to either the hedge cutter, something or somebody. i.e hedge cutter hits something and that something flies etc...

Break is usually just stopping at where ever it is we are at 10am or 1pm. Guy driving the tractor sits in the cab (only space for one) I end up sitting on the side of the road somewhere or if it's lashing down rain like it is quite a lot these last few months, just leaning up against the wheel of the tractor.

Supervisor gave us a cheapish enough camper thing that can boil a kettle with small cans of gas that can be bought in a petrol station etc. So that has to be boiled on the side of the road and then I eat my lunch, like I said either standing up or sitting down in the elements.

No toilet facilities, no shelter, damn all really.

The supervisor has a really bad attitude as well. One of these ''fck em didn't I give him water proofs and a kettle and a tin of gas, what more does he want'' type of lads.

I've been doing this for over half a year now but I've just about had enough of it now, especially given the weather we've been having these last few months. I want to work and have no problem working, I'll be there on time and will finish on time even stay on late if I'm required and indeed in I did during the floods etc but there is only so much one can take too.
We weren't allowed to work in wet weather on the TUS scheme i was on, it was against all health and safety for us to work in the rain, if an accident happened, you weren't covered...i'd be going above that clown's head and seeing someone else...

I would be amazed if they got rid of gateway, as it helps the council with a lot of free labour.
In my county, i originally thought the county council had a huge recruitment drive but then i realised that all these people with county council vests were on the dole, gateway. It'll still be around in 20 years

True. The full time council workers would kick up an awful commotion if gateway was scrapped as they'd have to work then. They were bad enough already but they're having a whale of a time altogether now since lads via gateway and fas were given the council jackets and boots.

I have been working part time for an non profit company since January, before I got the job I applied for TUS, I was sent a letter to go for an interview for TUS, they where interviewing for the company I work for, my job, I went to the interview and advised that I was better off financially as I was. I thought that was the end of it, however I got a call from the person who interviewed me saying the company would like to offer me the course. I have now been informed that they don't have any hours for me as they will have a TUS worker ! Since I refused the TUS scheme they will now look for someone to take the position and put me out of a job can they do that ? Any information would be appreciated.
