She should go straight to Hellas for saying that ... oh, she has.

Well I'm sure he did, it just didn't make it to print. :p

4 years of training, dieting and putting life on hold and she throws it all away by saying that.

What the hell was she thinking

She also retweeted a comment from a politician, criticising the Pime Ministers stance on emigration.

    It says the opposite!

To wit: She also re-tweeted a comment from Ilias Kasidiaris, a politician with Golden Dawn, criticising Prime Minister Antonis Samaras's stance on immigration.

Not much thinking going on there, I'd say.

Racism's ugly head pops up in the Olympics already and it hasn't even kicked off yet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭3ndahalfof6

she knew she had no chance of getting a medal, did she.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,213 ✭✭✭Sea Filly

she knew she had no chance of getting a medal, did she.

If she was a serious medal hope, she wouldn't have been sent home, just reprimanded.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

That's not very racist at all, unimpressive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

She should ring Rio Ferdinand for advice. The trick is to find someone else that says it first then just retweet it and ad lol to the end.

Not that I think either is that bad, the Irish comment implies innate stupidity, whereas this one implies two species from the same continent did, in fact, come from the same continent.

    WHAT A COW!

'With so many Africans in Greece... At least the West Nile mosquitoes will eat home made food!!!'
    ...
This is a reference to an outbreak of the West Nile virus, a potentially fatal disease transmitted by mosquitoes of African origin, in Athens this summer.
    How is that racist ?

    What am I missing ?

It's about like suggesting that if there was an outbreak of German measles then some sort of numerous statement about German tourists catching it too.

The other tweet about emigration possibly (I don't know what it said).

Or maybe it's Greece trying to save a few quid.

The old Daily Mail were making sure we knew what she looked like, anyway. They included pix of her from just about every possible angle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,469 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Seems a bit silly, did she come up with it herself or was she re-tweeting something she read or heard else where, I hope they have somebody equally flexible to replace her

Which I researched fully while reading said article.

I think Greece's national front has more potential than Britain's or Ireland's.

Sports story, which should really go in the Athletics forum. But once there's a bit of racism involved, AH is apparently the spot for it!

I also don't think that comment is particularly racist.

I'd like to see the comment she re-tweeted from the politician.

Its stupid not racist, Daley Thompson's remark's were much worse. She should have known better though that they jump on anything that is even bordering on racism.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,941 ✭✭✭thebigbiffo

Calling not racist on this one.

Jesus! It's a retweet of a very bad joke. The taste police need to be called is all...and seems like they have been...

    (ahem, yes ya would)

So to compete in the Olympics you must be nice. Being not nice will get you sent home.

maybe i'm missing the racist bit...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,740 ✭✭✭dirtyden

    A very mildly racist joke.

What an idiot though, throwing away an olympic place on twitter. Probably losing lots of earnings and future earnings in the process.

But being nice means you finish last.

If you finish anywhere other than last then you get a 4 year ban.

    I think it's quite funny.

I can't see the racism in it myself.

OK seriously one of you who keep saying it's "racist" please explain exactly what's racist about it. Or even what's wrong with it, I'd settle for that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,109 ✭✭✭MaxSteele

Ah here. This is just beyond ridiculous at this stage. First Daley Thompson being scolded over a light hearted irish joke, now more whinging about a fcuking african virus.

Greeks showing no backbone in case of offending someone. Awhh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 46,938 ✭✭✭✭Nodin

I would have though the reference to the west nile outbreak was what did her, as somebody died. Odd.

My opinion on the matter kindof depends on if the Greek Olympic Committee (Or whoever makes such decisions) is a private organisation, such as it is in the US, or a State body.

One would have thought that the principles of free speech would be such that as long as comments are not inciteful or otherwise criminal, then political viewpoints, even if distasteful, should not be squashed by the government. Otherwise why not just squash the entire far-right political party?

Doesn't mean she isn't an idiot, of course.

    NTM

A black dude makes a joke suggesting that all Irish people are illiterate. Not racist.

A white girl suggests that Africans come from Africa and that West Nile mosquitoes(they feed on human blood), whom originated in Uganda, would be eating home cooked food, i.e Africans. Racist!

    Hilarious shit.

Let her make any miserable ‘jokes’ on social media while watching the games on TV. She definitely cannot represent Greece in London.

    -Democratic Left Spokesperson.

Good to see the clowns running Greece have their priorities in order.
