North Korea obviously sending their best lifters into the B group as some kind of strategy. Maybe taking them out of the pressure cooker of competition.

Somebody who knows stuff was saying that the entire A session are getting ushered off to the left when they leave the platform which is where doping control is.

French guy who bombed from injury had the weirdest build I'd ever seen Looked like a badly designed action figure.
Benji their 85 also looks completely mental

Are you not allowed to go down in weight?
If you fail at 100kg twice, drop it to 98kg for you last lift.

Nope, have to try the same or more.

That Chinaman was awesome. Indonesian was great too. The Romanian couldn't look more underwhelmed if he tried! kinda wanted him to keep the silver though! Pity about the French.

Looking forward to the 77s tomorrow. Lu vs Lu!

there was a Peruvian girl in the 63kg category that weighed 58.11kg (or close to that) did she just miss the weigh in for the 58kg section? are they allowed to move up to the next section on the day/week? thought they would have to qualify for the specific weight category

Felt bad for her. She obviously belonged with the 58s like.

Wtf, the 177 lift wasn't given!!?

    Something quare going on.

Looks like the first chinese guy declined his 3rd lift, and the other chinese lifter and his coaches didn't realise. All i saw was the chinese coach saying 'two minutes, two minutes' but i thought the two minutes had already gone. Potential costly f*ck up there. Can someone with commentary confirm this

Man little Lu is such a badass doing that 190kg C&J injured. Looked like he was in agony there holding the bar until the down signal. It was like Stalingrad them sending him up the hallway to do the lift. Turn back and get shot.

Lu Xiaojun is an absolute beast, his technique on the clean and jerk is just amazing.

Chris Hoy is a beast. Destroyed the juiced up German.

Track cycling is my new sport I want to try. It's basically a strength sport. Presume there is no track in the godforesaken wasteland?

There's one in Crumlin. You'll have to googlize it. ''Dublin velodrome''. I'm waiting for the one getting built in Dundalk-hai .

I'd forgotten about that. Do you know if it's possible to rent track bikes there?

You'll have to rent a pair of quads while you're at it

I dunno. Me and Crumlin don't get on.

I wonder if the motor forum would know of any velodromy type roads.

Hmm, just saw a power clean in the womens 63kg. Was a bit surprised.

Good finale in the womens 75kg
Russian girl Zabolotnaya was using a squat jerk

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 3,234 Mod ✭✭✭✭Edwardius

Evstyukhina bombed. Durnit :(. Zabolotnaya was a reserve team member. She only got the spot because Slivenko got injured.Silver ain't too bad for a sub! 161 power jerk is nuts.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 3,234 Mod ✭✭✭✭Edwardius

And on the same note, it ain't looking good for Akkaev. link. The same site is reporting that Klokov pulled out with an "unspecified medical condition".

I'm hearing Klokov and Akkaev are out. Well that's the Olympics ruined.

    What next, no Santy?
