Artane Aquatics has just recently opened its doors to the public.

The shop is in Butterly Business Park,Artane,Dublin 5...just accross the road from Tesco,Artane Castle.

The shop is run by Gavin,Simon and Philip who are all vastly experienced fish keepers.

They stock and sell a large range of Koi Carp,Tropical Fish,Marine Fish,Tanganyikan Fish,Malawi Fish,Cold water fish and all sorts of fish tanks, equipement and fish foods.

We were in there today and bought 6 beautifull Discuss for 25 euro each.:D

    We got a 3 for 2 deal,so 6 for 4 is a good price for Discuss

Plenty of other good deals to be had on all aspects of fish keeping, tanks and equipement.

    Regards.:)

Is there a bargain in there or is this just a plug?

Eur25 for a Discus is more expensive than I have ever seen them sold anywhere ever, & I've been keeping tropical fish for 15 years.

6 of them of Eur150 ? Did you not even get a discount ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,268 ✭✭✭✭uck51js9zml2yt

I think 25 is ok for them.
Ive seen dearer discus and paid more when i was keeping fish.

Aquarium solutions in asbourne used to be good for fish. I'm almost tempted to get back into fish again..maybe when the kids get a bit older.

    Yep,we got a deal/discount (3 for 2)

My missus is an experienced tropical fish and tanganyikan fish keeper. She also keeps koi carp too.

Both of us like Discuss. They will be fed 3 times a day with live food like daphnia, some bloodworm and also "beef heart" too.

We have Tanganyikan Tanks aswell, and are also about to set up this large custom built "sumped" marine tank too.Built to our own specs and measurements.:)

Yes there is,and its there in the opening post.:)

I know that not everyone here on this bargain forum will be into fishkeeping, but some people are,and are allways on the lookout for new places to buy from and new places to get some deals for their fish keeping hobby/pasttime.

All you have to do is read, and understand about aquariams, fish types/stock and prices.

If you dont understand and are not into fish keeping, then this will be of no use to you.

Facebook page with competition and deals.
    http://www.facebook.com/ArtaneAquatics

And some good deals for all sorts of fishkeepers.

Are you into fiskeeping, and do you have fish tanks??

Because I dont see a single mention of it,anywhere on this forum in any of your threads or posts.

We are big into fish keeping (myself and my missus are both into fish keeping). Both of us also post alot of information about various fish keeping matters, various subjects and hobbies/interests on this forum too.

We also buy various aquariam items and fish tanks from Artane Aquatics,Maxi Zoo,Petstop,Seahorse Aquariams,Zooplus,Kinsealy Pet Store and Petmania.

PS-Please feel free to browse through our threads and posts,if you wish to.

Ah come on man...when I post a bargain in my local motorfactors (for example), I don't post their entire inventory as well..

Good luck with the business though

I didnt post an "entire inventory" at all.

I didnt even post a 10th of it in fact.;)

I dont work there either...(Im a telecomms engineer if you must know, and my missus is a professional horticulturalist).

This new aquariam shop opened up in Artane,1.5 miles down the road from where we live.

We know/knew Gavin and Simon from when they were working in another aquariam shop that we also buy from too.:)

Both my missus and myself are big into fishkeeping, gardening, beekeeping, diy and also other boards related things too.

Plenty of threads, posts and pictures to back up what Im saying.

    Regards.:)

Fair enough but your posts do have shill wrote all over them, be that the case or not who knows..

    shill
    noun
    1. a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.
    2. a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.
    verb (used without object)
    3. to work as a shill: He shills for a large casino.

Anyway genuinely hope they do well its good to see people still willing to go into business in the current climate

    onwards and upwards! ;)

you seem to be missing the point.

it doesnt matter whether you are into fish or not.

the point is you are not supposed to use this forum to promote your friends business, that is why people are calling you a shill

I forgot I didnt post a bargain then, unless Im going blind though.;)

Best not mention Keelan from Seahorse Aquarimams then

Or John and Paul from Petstop

    Or Simon from Maxi-Zoo

Or Johny from Kinsealy Pet Store

All because we have bought/buy from those shops too and these people are friends of ours too.

Threads and posts posted before about it

Well best of luck to your friends with this - I'll check it out during the week, recently moved to the Northside so it's close enough. Will I get a discount if I mention Paddy147?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Ryaner

@Paddy, how big is your tank that you bought 8 Discus so close together? Seems like a lot.

As for the shill comments, I saw your original post where you got the 6, it didn't mention 3 for 2 on the first draft. I didn't take much notice however since I've a planted tank, i.e. not suitable for discus.
I will say that unless you got a flier listing everything they got in, it is extremely unlikely you'd remember all the fish they have instock from just a few visits. Comes across as strange.

Actually anyone outside of the fish community will probably find it strange to be on a first name basis with the staff in so many stores too. It is like a big-small friendly world. Forbidden myself from the fish shops at the moment as my tank if full, joys of apartment living.

Or why did he only get 2 more when it was but 2 get one free?

I'd say he got the inventory of a fishkeeper website they usually update their stock.

Something's not adding up alright since there was no mention of the buy 2 get one free until someone mentioned aquatic village - shilling a friends business I bet he got cheap/free fish since he doesnt seem to know the prices that well.

That'd be a fish thing. There is only so many fish a tank can handle. I've done similar in the past.

The Discuss tank is a large 500 litre tank with a ProFlora Digital CO2 injection system. The filter is a large Ehein Pro external filter system.

    Theres 6 Discuss in the tank,not 8.

    It for a 3 for 2 offer,so we got 6 for 4.

Offer is open to EVERYONE and not just me alone (even though some people here think I only got fthe ish on the cheap for knowing the shop owner...how wrong they are).

The tank has 18 Cardinal Tetras,10 Blue Tetras,9 Chain Loaches and 3 Bristlenose Plecs,2 of which recently had 4 baby plecs between them.
And now the 6 new Discuss.

The Discuss are all perfectly happy in the tank.:)

Oh and customers of various aquariam shops can sign up for emails where they will get automatic emails with newly arrived fish stocks too.;)

    Thanks for asking.:)
