What a load of nonsense. If people are going to squander their childrens allowance on alcohol, they'll do it regardless of special offers advertised with the payments name splashed all over it. These institutions like Barnardos need to stop the nanny state comments, it does no good.

    beno
I find this more depressing than anything else I've read in the thread, to be honest.

This is nothing new. Many pubs around Dublin advertise cheap drink or crappy entertainment for children's allowance day.

People are going to spend it on booze regardless.

many working people also receive child benefit, so why is it wrong that the ones on welfare are getting bashed when some working people also use the child benefit payment to buy booze with.

The PC brigade are slowly creating a two tier value system on people's freedom of choice.

telling people how they can and can't spend their own finances is morally wrong but picking on those on welfare is even more wrong.

why cant the PC Brigade just butt out and mind their own goddam business?

Hey all you non smokers out there who are in favour of restrictions on smoking being brought in
Why only mention/call out non-smokers? There's plenty of smokers in favour of further restrictions and who supported the smoking ban.

Just like many drinkers would like far more restriction on alcohol sales & consumption.

"The smoking ban" as if things are as they are, with nothing being suggested for further bans... While it could be that there'll be smokers who'd be in favour of this, I consider it less likely they'd be in favour of this. Or this. It is the same nanny statism.

Oh it is. Micky Money Tuesdays are popular nights out in the city if you're hoping to score some milfs or whatever.

    I find this ad hilarious.

You guys should see my local casino on Child Benefit day, it's fcuking chaos!

On topic, what a stupid thing to get worked up about. it's not as if centra have a sign saying "Buy drink or we'll shoot your kids" or something

I've got to say, the milfs I've seen in Dublin fall some way short of the milfs I've been led to expect by certain films and magazines.

I think the whole thing is wrong but in fairness they usually do their market research before putting out such offers they do target their markets..

I just bought a load of booze in Centra and I don't even have any kids! Those suckers.

The person who put this promotion up should be sacked.

And go straight into the Paddy Power or RyanAir advertising dept.

Look at all the free publicity Centra have got out of it. It's even an item on the news!

Maybe this was their intention all along, as a poster said earlier no such thing as bad publicity.

Normally when you get a spam advert in the post or online, its targetting you for a reason,ie they have done their market reasearch on you, before they send out an advertisment or offer they do their market reasearch in order to target the market,ie you,and maximise sales otherwise its a shoot in the dark..those beer things were sent out for a reason you know, whether they find it offensive or not..

I very much doubt the people giving out about it would be pc!

I'd be more concerned about them using the children's allowance to buy their kids foods such as pizza, chips and icecream than using it to buy themselves a few beers to be honest.

The people that spend their childrens allowance on booze will still do so regardless of "allowance day".
