Why cant they just say, 'informer'? The acronyms and abbreviations are really annoying.

    Gives it more credibility

Think of how many industries use terms that only those working in it would get

Time has been going by in a blur since lockdown. I have a feeling the week between episodes will feel like forever.

Nearly sure I spotted actors/stuntmen wearing covid masks early on, the scene at the “raid” at the bookies.

That was an ok opener. Solid. Nothing spectacular

Needed the usual LOD first episode of a season twist

    But it never came

Yeah, but it usually ends up as localised slang peculiar to a particular site or speciality. This lot come across like a bunch of robots

I see that CHIS is an actual Bill intoducted by Priti Patel this year.

    For sure

It's the first really, really, big UK show to be filmed at the peak of Covid cases there

I think it's spectacular they pulled it off, considering we're talking around April last year when filming began - right when the UK was absolutely riddled

And Adrian Dunbar is 62 too. So not exactly low risk for Covid

Thought it was a good episode to be fair.

The opening scene was so wooden it was like a parady of itself, it picked up later but I wasn't that impressed tbh.

What's better than Ted Hastings? Kelly Mcdonald! Jizz

Was Kelly McDonald acting really, really badly, or was it just her voice?

I thought it was good. Slower start compared to other seasons but still gripping. Looking forward to next week

Never rated her as an actor to be honest..

.. especially given the high calibre that LoD typically has in guest stars - Lennie James, Keeley Hawes, Daniel Mays, Thandie Newton, Stephen Graham etc.

    Observations:
    • Kate is still undercover, just as herself this time
    • The "fight" between Buckles and Kelly McDonald's character was 100% purely for show. Very obvious
    • Suspect Carl Banks is surely a relative of Lee Banks from previous seasons

Hastings went to visit Lee Banks in prison last season

Yeah, Thandie came immediately to mind. She stole the show that season.

    Solid enough start. Nothing spectacular

And - for me - the "mentally disabled person used as scapegoat for reporter's murder" was very close in theme to the killing of Jill Dando

    I thought she was terrible.

Did the solicitor call 'Terry' 'Tony' when she walked with him to the car?

Keeley Hawes is the ultimate gold standard in LoD

I really don't think her character and acting can be bettered in LoD

"So they're telling us CHIS stands for 'Covert Human Intelligence Source'. But what if CHIS really stands for 'Clearly H Is Steve'?" - Richard Osman (friend of Mercurio):pac:

Ah, but maybe thats what they want you to think!

I wouldn't rate her at all. As Basq mentioned above the guest stars have been incredible so far so this is a bit of a drop off.

Apart from that I thought it was excellent. More subtle than usual but plenty to mull over and Mercurio is leading us all over the place as usual.

I thought Martin Compton was quite wooden too. Was a bit underwhelmed by it

What was going on with Jo (Kelly McDonald) and her 108 locks on her front door?

..and those giant keys. She's need a big old bag to ship them around.

Also, that picture of her and someone she threw the glass at. Any significance other than an ex lover. Was it an old character? Didn't recognize her but curious all the same.
