Can anyone go target shooting in Ireland?

When I was on holidays in New Zealand we planned on going shooting but couldn't get
I was trying to see if it can be done here. I.e. turn up, pay 50 euro get 20 mins instruction and shoot targets on a range.

Is it possible or even legal to do that? Where?

As far as I know day membership is not available any more.

dev is right, day membership isn't legal but there is a legal avenue for this

Never been to a range that operates like this myself but there are a few doing this I think.

I read that post but couldn't find any ranges offering it online anyway.

Where are ya based? Hilltop in Wicklow have a rifle range and instructors:)

what about the shooting club in roundwood, I think you can go shoot up there for the day, my friends a member and i've seen groups come in, heres their website, they can at least give you the low down about shooting or even refer you to a club/range in your area http://www.hilltopshootingsports.com/

What type of shooting are you interested in? This will determine the best range to go to.

Prefaribly targets with pistols.


Thanks everyone for all the links. We have all done paintball before and want something difference.

Very few clubs, if any will let you use a pistol if you're not a member, it's mostly rifles/shotguns.

Sweet, thought Lazydog place was only clays, I'll keep an eye on that website, there was a mention of a future outdoor range. If it ever developed in the future as an authorized range/club with full time membership (and allowed supersonic as well as subsonic rimfire) it would be excellent for someplace local at only 40km +- away from Limerick City
