According to this all results will be finalised by this Friday - http://www.dcu.ie/timetables/pdfs/_pab-june12.pdf

Why then do they make us wait almost a whole week til they release them!
Don't ever remember the waiting around being so hard. It's probably because I'm in my final year!

When's the repeat timetable normally out? Not feeling too positive!

Also, how much does it normally cost to repeat an exam?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 893 ✭✭✭joey54

    €190 http://www.dcu.ie/finance/fees/other_fees.shtml

However, you only pay this once and that covers all the exams you have to repeat from that year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,220 ✭✭✭bren2001

The announcement of the results takes place on Thursday the 28th of June.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Krys22

Those dates were for the Progression Awards Board meetings and not for the actual publication of results. As per the academic calender and the email sent out the results will be online on the 28th. I am a final year as well and I am nervous as Sh#t!

They take ages to correct them! We must be the last college to get the results

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 vagenthusiast

Anyone know when do we actually have to pay for the repeats and register for them? I know it's after the results are published, but can we do it immediately after the results or is there a certain date? :p

Why are people talking about repeats already? There results aren't even out yet...wait till you get the results and then worry about the repeats.

Some people already have repeats from Christmas, so naturally they're gonna be worrying/thinking about trying to pass them.

Oh, well then maybe we don't have it too bad so! All my friends have theirs already so I just thought we must be one of the last!

That's what I was thinking. My friends in other colleges already have their results, all this waiting around for the results is driving me mad!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,164 ✭✭✭Konata

We're some of the last to get results because we were one of the last doing exams. All my friends were finished exams before me so it makes sense that I get results last.

It takes a bit of time between finalising them locally and then passing them on to registry so they can be published correctly. It would be a bit chaotic otherwise. Patience people! We are one of the last colleges to sit exams like others have said.

Also for anyone asking questions about repeats, if you just take some time to go to the DCU site, look around registry on the site, all of the information is up there. The same questions come up in here year after year, everything you need is on the dcu site. Take some time to read the SU emails around results times and all the info will be reiterated there too.

Does anybody know what time the results are published tomorrow? I can't find it anywhere and nobody in my class seems to know.

That's not entirely correct. They will be up around lunch-time as has been said in an email sent to everybody.

tigerblob You and your class need to start reading your emails.

When exactly is lunchtime? Seems a bit needlessly vague...

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I think they've purposely not set a definite time this time tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭Cardor

Some people are saying that the exact time is purposely not being revealed, as it will help prevent students from logging on at the same time. This is good because it should prevent the website from crashing again!

I'm sure everyone will have gotten their results by at least 3 o'clock!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

What? Everyone will be coming on earlier than usual so it will crash earlier than usual. It's fcuking ridiculous and they're a bunch of saps. Just release them by school at 9, 10:30, 12 or something like that.

    True.

I got them as early as 11am before. F5ing to the max.

Websites crash when everybody does the exact same thing at the exact same time, not when everybody is on the website! Just like with twitter - it can hold millions of people posting on it's pages, but when people post something at the exact time (Like on new years eve and when MJ died), the website will crash! If people are told the results are out at 12 or 1 or 2, they will go on then, but if they do not know, there is no way that they'll be able to all go on at the same time.. unless everyone is pressing refresh for a few mins/hours - which, of course, could happen!

Saying to us on boards what the college should do is not gonna help in the slightest.. e-mail them with your complaint during the summer, so that the procedure can be changed in the future. I agree that the method you propose is better, but boards isn't gonna change it!

This is what I meant, I think it is probably a good thing

And best of luck everybody btw!

I'll be F5ing from about 11 until I get my results, I'll regret nothing.

I have autorefresh installed and page monitor, it refreshed every 30 seconds and will tell me if there is any change to the page. Don't really care about the results, just want it to crash :pac:

I don't know why they don't do what they did for the previous few years, announce they will be released at 3 and then start to slowly release them from about 10. Before this year (and last years summer results), can't really remember the site crashing.

Why do they never show your average for you ? I keep second guessing myself when I add it up, surely they should show it in the results.

I always feel that they should as well, but they tell you your overall grade so... and infairness, its not that hard to calculate it, its just weighted averages.

    Hey guys,
Got my results this morn, passed them all but failed one only by a few percent.
Could someone please advise me i the right direction of how I could try an blag my way into talking to my lecture about that minor fail, What is the best excuse to heLp me pass this,
I know i shouldn't be asking for this but i am desperate,
please help as im unable to repeat this exam as doing it in june was my fina chance with it.

I didn't get my overall grade posted, that sucks.

It just sucks because I keep second guessing myself and knowing my luck I will end up getting it wrong.

Edit - I missed the grading at the bottom, thanks.

If you failed only one and only by a few percent, is it not then possible to pass by compensation ?

I'd just email your lecturer, explain the situation and ask if you can meet him/her to discuss it. They'll generally go through the exam paper with you and show you where you lost/gained marks. If you're lucky and they are generous you might get an extra mark or two. It's your best chance anyway :)

Is there a meaningful difference between an "F" and an "R"? I know the F means (I think?) that you also failed the continuous assessment but the class was weight 80-20 in favour of the exam so presumably I could just repeat the exam?

    I'm a model student.

e: From searching around a bit apparently if you get an "F" you can still repeat the exam but you may have to repeat the CA too, depending on the module, though some just have the exam as worth 100%. For anyone that's wondering. :)

Anyone know when we could expect to get a hard copy of the results? May need it.

Sent in the post, keep it as it costs money to get it off Registry later on. If you have an interview coming up then just take a screenshot of the results page and print it off.

if you got 35 or more you can pass by compensation, you may need to email the head of your school/your lecturer and they will advise.

Does anyone remember when the passlists go up? Is it after the August re-sits?

Next few days they go up. I always look and count to see how many people have failed. The class just gets smaller as each year goes by...

I'm only in first year I never heard of passlists going up?!

Where are they posted and are they posted for all modules?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 77 ✭✭MacConmheadha

Can anyone let us know what this is about?

I failed one exam in the first semester (still has an R beside it) and I comfortably passed the rest of my exams in semesters 1 and 2, but at the end of the page it says: "Overall Result: Fail"

Is that just there because I still have an R beside one exam?

You failed a module so you fail the year (for the moment) your grade will change once you pass the repeat.

They are posted for each class (whatever your degree program is) it gives the order of the class, who got 1.1, 2.1 etc. so it shows who came first, second etc. Its just student numbers so you can see where YOU came.

Its clearly stated in many places including an email everybody received today "For those wondering about compensation, if it applies to your course/modules it will already have been applied to the results you get today."

Just overall grades for your class in order from first to last (does not include those who failed).

The link should be on your portal page.
