Its been around for a while, I recall checking it out maybe a couple of years ago. I am still no wiser about how it works though.

Bit of snooping - Gordon gives out a lot of thanks for links to the Feedback spam thread!

It is around a while now looksee. Its based on a few things, thanks given to other posters and received and the likes, and it removes anyone on your friends list as a potential match.

I wanted to test this theory at one stage when I'd nearly two hundred 'friends' and deleted them all.

Two things I found out was

    a) it does remove your friends as a possible match

    and

    b) A lot of people keep a close eye on their friends list, and I've received a few "but whyyy?" type pm's, they take it up the wrong way.

Annnyway! long story short.. just a bit of a fun / gimick thing.

I think I need to get out more often. 9 out of 10 on mine are from O&O.
And to think I didn't realise Ramette! 2.30AM under the chestnut tree ....... have your valise ......... will catch Rosinante ........ and you - my fair Dulcinea - with me will head furiously into the setting sun, allthetime tilting towards the windfarm in Lyreacrompane. Wehey! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,459 ✭✭✭Chucken

Why would the sun be setting at 2.30am dear Spread :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,876 ✭✭✭Spread

Well, as I practice bi-location, 2.30 AM there would be about sundown here. God woman, I'm speaking metaphorically. And even if I wasn't ........ that's why we'd be heading furiously .......... to catch up with it :D

You won't frighten me. I've got this growing out the back:

Here's where the zombie's cucumber (Datura stramonium- known in Haiti as the concombre zombie) enters the picture. Like many members of the Datura family, our cucumber is a hallucinogen. After the victim has been severely beaten and regains consciousness, he begins receiving regular doses of the zombie's cucumber. These doses continue regularly to keep him in a disoriented state and convince him that he is a zombie and that he has no soul. The zombie is then put to work as a plantation slave for the rest of his life.

Occasionally I click someone's name by accident and end up on their profile and I make a hasty retreat in case they think I'm being nosey. I don't want to read people's profiles.

    It was a points system.

If you are user A and I'm calculating the matching score for you with user B:
    • 3 points for each time user A thanked user B
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    • 6 points for each time user B thanked user A
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    • 1 point for each time user A replied to a thread started by user B
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • Excluding mod & admin forums
      • Excluding threads over 6 months old
    • 2 points for each time user B replied to a thread started by user A
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • Excluding mod & admin forums
      • Excluding threads over 6 months old
    • 1 point for each time user A PMed user B
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
      • Excluding PMs over 6 months old
    • 2 points for each time user B PMed user A.
      • Excluding buddy list
      • Excluding ignore list
      • For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
      • Excluding PMs over 6 months old

The points were added up and then adjusted to a 0-10 scale. 0 was 0 and 10 was the highest number of points by any person you matched with.

The interesting thing from my perspective was all the people complaining "I got all men!" or "I got all women!". If you got all men, you probably don't interact much with women and vice-versa. If you want more men/women in your list, start talking to them! :)
