We can't see whatever you've specced, just links us to our Amazon wishlist (or lack of one :pac:)

Oh thanks for moving didnt realise it was wrong :/

Could you write out the parts. Wishlist won't come up.

The best thing to do is to fill this form out, and post it here and the resident experts will post a build based on your replies.:)

BTW the best value for money is not going to be amazon, most peeps here use & recommend hardwareversand.de.

Give a look in the stickies as there are some great guides how to go about your build as well.

Nah its something i want to build myself. and the parts i want on that site seem to be basically the same price but on amazon i get free shipping

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Eboggles

This would absolutely maul the build you just posted.

    Item|Price
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€35.93
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€62.72
    ASRock H61M/U3S3 (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX|€55.07
    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA|€18.89
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€42.88
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€31.75
    HIS HD 6870 IceQ X GDDR5 1024MB Native HDMI 2xDVI 2xMiniDP|€143.46
    Intel Core i5-2320 Box, LGA1155|€162.28
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€571.97

Much better case, much better GPU, much better CPU, reliable PSU.

    And here's a wireless card.

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

That seems like a fairly decent build but its seems to expensive for what i want i can build mine for 465+ 70 for windows and yours will cost nearly a hundred euro more and im not sure if the cpu gpu and case i really that much better. Might get the wireless card though

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

that site isnt even cheaper than amazon especially since i will be getting free delievery

If im building this to be a gaming rig what monitor should i get i want to keep this reletively cheap

  • Registered Users Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Bloodwing

I'd consider going for a different PSU. A cheap brand like that can spell disaster for the rest of your build.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

wouldn't get a 550 ti either, it's barely classed as a gaming gpu and is slower and costs more then a hd 6770, also 650w is overkill for that build you'll only need around 450w to 550w and neilos is right in telling you to avoid cheap psu's they will always cause problems at some point down the line

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

okay tbh i don't see how amazon is that much cheaper then harwareversand cause i specced out pretty much the same build except with a better graphics card, case (case is important if your running a graphics card for airflow) and a much more reliable psu and it's pretty much the exact same price as the one you posted:

    Item|Price
    Total build cost: €529.97 + €18.99 shipping
    ASRock 970DE3/U3S3, AM3+, ATX|€55.82
    8GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance rot PC3-12800U CL9|€44.57
    XFX RADEON HD 6770 850M 1GB DDR5 DUAL DVI, Mini HDMI|€82.72
    LiteOn iHAS122-18 schwarz SATA|€16.68
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€62.72
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€31.75
Cooler Master GX Series PSU, 80Plus Bronze - 450 Watt|€40.99
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch|€85.34
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Box, Sockel AM3|€93.37
LogiLink Wireless LAN 300 Mbps PCI Karte 802.11n 2T2R|€16.01

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

is there much difference in the cases http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=50575&agid=631 and http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0064LFTR8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&m=A17AS5ETPMZ9A1 cause if they do the same i may get the later just for the sheer look of it

IMO first one looks a lot nicer

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

that seems like a good build and its actually cheaper than my build

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

not comparing looks will they both be basically the same

not comparing looks will they both be basically the same

    I'd go with the merc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

ok might get it then, will have a month before i buy any of it so i might change my mine on the build

just like to point out that i got the 550 ti confused with the 540 gts, the 550ti is slightly better then the 6770 but only marginally and only on 1 or 2 games so the 6770 is the better buy price/performance wise

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Eboggles

    Consider this:

    Item|Price
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€35.93
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's|€62.72
    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA|€18.89
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€42.88
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€31.75
    HIS HD 6870 IceQ X GDDR5 1024MB Native HDMI 2xDVI 2xMiniDP|€143.46
    ASRock H61M-HVS (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX|€41.81
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch|€85.34
LogiLink Wireless LAN 300 Mbps PCI Karte 802.11n 2T2R|€16.01
    BenQ G2255|€100.98
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€598.76

    That's €600, buuut:
    • Has a much much much better GPU
    • Much better CPU
    • Much better PSU
    • Much better case
    • Cheaper than your build
    • Includes a 1080p monitor

I'm not too sure where you got "there isn't much difference between the cards" from.

    3ZYqL.png?1

    VUEJV.png?1

    1zoE7.png?1

And as for "there isn't much difference between the CPU":

    Q2Jzx.png?1

    axtx6.png?1

    BZtVF.png?1

Bear in mind in those CPU tests that the i3 I'm recommending is 3.3ghz as opposed to the 3.1 variant, and the phenom you're ordering is 3.4ghz as opposed to the 3.5 X4 970, so expect there to be an even larger gap.

    Convinced now? :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭IrishMetalhead

seem to be missing the cpu in that list mate...

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

yeh ur missing a processor which adds another another hundred onto that build

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Eboggles' builds are easily the best for games. They'd "maul" (I like that word in this context) the other builds in gaming with the better graphics card. I presume the second one was supposed to have an i3 in there which does a good job for gaming and the phenom only really has an advantage with heavily threaded programs. The i3's hyperthreading helps out a bit here so it's not far behind.

I'd probably spend more on a better motherboard myself though. That's one place that AMD does better. However, given AMD's uncertain future lineup, it seems to make more sence the get a good upgradable board that will last you a while and hopefully a CPU upgrade.

Are you a student (first/second/third level) where you could save a little on windows?

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

i think im going to go with this build

    ASRock 970DE3/U3S3, AM3+, ATX

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Don't buy keyboards from hardwareversand; they're German layout.

Also, the coolermaster GXs aren't a great line, I suggest you opt for something else. The superflower amazons are one of the best price/performance PSUs, but I can make other recommendations if you want.

Is that the high heatsink RAM? You might want something else as that can get in the way of other components.

I'll come back in a few hours and see if I can pick a better build. You can save a little with windows if you're a student with software4students.ie.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Eboggles

Don't get a keyboard from that website as it will be in German layout.
You really seem to be keen on AMD, don't you? The least you can do is overclock the crap out of it then :D.

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭conorhickey

so u's think this build would be better?

    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9
    35,93 €

    Seagate Barracuda 7200 500GB SATA 6GB's
    62,72 €

    LiteOn iHAS124-19 schwarz SATA
    18,89 €

    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W
    42,88 €

    BitFenix Merc Alpha
    31,75 €

    HIS HD 6870 IceQ X GDDR5 1024MB Native HDMI 2xDVI 2xMiniDP
    143,46 €

    ASRock H61M-HVS (B3), Sockel 1155, mATX
    41,81 €

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch
    ready for dispatch
    85,34 €

LogiLink Wireless LAN 300 Mbps PCI Karte 802.11n 2T2R
    16,01 €

    BenQ G2255
    ready for dispatch
    100,98 €

    Intel Core i3-2120 Box, LGA1155
    106,46 €

Cherry G85-23100DE-2 eVolution Stream XT Keyboard - schwarz
