Can't see why anyone would use these lads, they charge you for the privelage of getting your car serviced somewhere that they have chosen.

There are any number of decent independent garages that you can chose yourself, iirc OP you have a nice modern BMW :) There are numerous indy garages I wouldn't let near it if it were mine, servicestop.ie may or may not be as particular.

I do indeed. It's more the convenience of having it collected form work and dropped back that drew me in.
They seem, in the UK at least, to find additional work to bump up the price. I've had quotes from decent indie's detailing exactly what they will do and how much it will cost in advance so I will go with them I'd say.

Have you enquired with the independents if they'd collect from work? If they're nearby they might do it for you, we do it here for most customers all over South Dublin.

I am wondering does anyone have any experience of this company. Seemingly they collect, repair and return your car to your home/work.

How do I know if I am going to see my car again.:D

If anyone has used this company, I would be grateful for advice/opinions.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I am at work now and they will be collecting our car at home (wife is at home, Carrigtwohill co Cork) in the next few minutes, I'll let you know if the car comes back (1) and in good working order (2).

We may have to change our timing belt, we asked them yesterday how much this would cost and they said anything between 250 and 300 (this was just a quote, we won't do it today). I really have no idea how much a timing belt change costs but it seems like an ok price....

    More to come then :)

    Here we go,

Should have the car back soon depending on traffic. I E-mailed the garage and I have to say that their reply was really fast.

Final bill came up at €206.10 (basic full service at €148, pollen filter replaced at €48.50 and replaced number plate bulb at €9.60). Didn't even know that there was a pollen filter on cars....

It all seems correct to me and would more than likely use them again, unless we find the same service cheaper of course...

With regards to the timing belt, the price has changed, a little bit...They quoted us about €600 (this includes waterpump and coolant) and will need to be done at 115 000 KM from what they said. €600 seems really high to me, but I really don't have a clue about cars...(it was a Hyundai Tucson 08 Diesel)

    That's all for me.

48.50 for a pollen filter. What kindof car have you?

    LONG LIST REMOVED except:
    Replace air filter
Replace engine oil (special or long life oils at extra charge)
    Replace oil filter
Tbh, 164 is still a lot for what they actually do.

Takes less than 15 mins to replace and can be got for less than 10 euro online.
But it's not something people know they can do at home.

€164 to change the oil and oil filter and have a nose around the car? Christ.

It does seem like a lot doesn't it, but then again I had a interim service done at Bolands Volvo service center in Wexford last year and that was 165, they are looking for 240 for the full service. I always done servicing on cars myself but this one had a full service history when I got it so wanted to keep it like that and I have no experience servicing a diesel car as all my others were petrol. I am tempted to cancel now after reading some of the reviews on the UK operation. Might just go to the local mechanic instead

What's listed above is just about an interim service.

I have cancelled it with them and actually got it for cheaper with the local mechanic in Wicklow. At least I know he has a good reputation

I know that but we are not all DIY people ^^ the thread here is to know if this compagny offers a good deal compare to others who offers the same service, if I could do all these things myself I wouldn't bring my car to be serviced....

Pollen filter does seem expensive even presuming it sourced at the dealers. It's the number plate bulb at 9.60 that got my interest though.

this is not from a main dealer but a spurious pollen filter shouldnt be that much cheaper than the original filter from a dealer.

Has anyone looked at the UK version of the site? The Irish version of the site is more or less a copy and paste. That means that all the bookings will be going via the UK.

From experience of folks over the water trying to run anything here from over there, it's one massive clusterfcuk waiting to happen. Expect bookings for Cork to be routed to a garage in Donegal as it "sounded like it was close mate".

I find that any service that operates in the UK has a large, dedicated infrastructure network. Then they do it here and it's a flashy website and your car ends up where it's always been, at John-Joes Motors, she'll be grand lad.
In other words they take the UK idea, remove the infrastructure and because of that it always ends up about 25% more expensive.
So someone said "why don't we take the flashy website, remove the service, remove the cost benefit, pay John-Joe a fiver and soon we'll be rolling in it"

    Hi all,

I'm looking to get my car serviced and with work it's tough to get it to garage with the commute. I found these guys online http://www.servicingstop.ie/
They pick up the car, service it, return it and it's cheaper than most places......almost as if it's too good to be true!

Has anyone used them before? Any feedback would be great.
    Cheers!

    Merged with older thread.

You can also find more info by using a google search like this

When you use these guys for a service your car ends up at a local garage.

So why not ring up or email a few local garages directly and ask them to do collect and return for you. Most will be happy to do so.

There is no advantage whatsoever to using Servicing Stop.

There are a number of potential downsides however.

First of all you are paying more than you would be paying if you went directly to the garage.

Secondly the garage is getting much less money for doing the service so this combined with the fact that they don't have to put their own stamp in the book means that corners may be cut on the service as well.

At the end of the day these guys are just middle men who have made a minimum investment, attempting to make money off the backs of garages that have invested money in premises, equipment, training and people.

Steer CLEAR.......... Its a UK based exploitative operation, refuses to give the names of the supposed 'expert' mechanics/garages .....
When the UK operation refused to accept normal credit card protocol and sought credit limit, DOB and Mothers maiden name before accepting payment, information NO company ought be given.
A cash payment was offered, but they,Refused to disclose the location of the car, obviously not trusting their mechanic to pass on the money, but the customer is supposed to trust him with their car !!!!!

A little subterfuge resulted in finding the location, but they said they were not 'allowed' talk to the Customer !! (they had some English and refused to give their Names .... "its a limited company --- why you need my name"??) refused to release the car despite being offered full payment by Cash or card . WEIRD....

Scoffed when it was suggested the Guards would be called, as they were holding the car to Ransom........ "what dey do".......... then finally after hours of calls unanswered and being left holding on....... and only when the Garda were en route did the Pole accept payment, but he was in fear of the Companies reaction.

PS..... an e mail cancelling the supposed service had been sent the day before, but the car was called for anyway. An e mail was then sent suggesting approx 600e extra work was needed......... it remains to be seen was proper oil, filters etc used and if the named work was needed ......!! report on that by 5th Dec.....

LESSON.......... go find an enthusiastic competent Irish local Mechanic and build up a relationship........ for happy affordable motoring..... being courteous costs nothing.

It's clear enough from examining the entire concept that only a moron would decide to take up that offer.
