    More fibre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,039 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Leafy green veggies and even more water.

And if that doesn't work try some ground flax on/in your food.

Hot drink followed by a cold one sometimes works as well.

Supplement with fibre, Psylium Husks works well.

    Happens to everyone. Don't worry.

Add in some extra fibre to your diet by eating Broccolli or Sweet potato...or you could take some Phylium husk for a "good" clearout.

Coffee has something in it that makes you go
    Coconut has too
Take a digestive enzyme ans probiotic with your meals
It might be a good idea to up your carbs and then reduce them slowly

As has been stated, fibrous veg is your friend. Usually in my experience there's some, ahem, backlog, when my clients switch to high protein diets initially, but a corresponding increase in dietary fibre through the likes of brocolli, sweet potato, etc etc sets things to rights again.

If you're really in trouble though, a double espresso or some liquid paraffin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,991 ✭✭✭metamorphosis

Yeah go the double espresso route, or a spoon or two of cocnonut oil and you will be flying

Coconut oil, psyilum husk, espresso etc are completely natural, and pretty much in a raw unprocessed form.

If you take psyllium husks, make sure you drink a ton of water aswell!! I can't stress that enough! Be like passing a briquette without it!

Tinned prunes in natural juice with natural yoghurt - few carbs - gentle impact - extremely effective.

You're in for a tough time. It'll be like passing a porcupine.
Psyllium husks don't work for some people and can be bloody dangerous if taken incorrectly.
Try laxose off the shelf in the chemist if you're not having any joy with the husks.
    Fish oil is magic.

Build yourself one of these too ;)

I'm not sure how but I'm even more confused now. I never knew going to the toilet could be this confusing.

The human species did not evolve to deficate in an upright seated position to which we are now accustomed.
The squat position is the natural allignment for bowel emptying.

Oh you stand on it and squat !! I thought it was support for a giant arse or something.

I have heard of people being so heavy that they break the toilet seat, maybe it's there for that.

Be patient ... pooh will come., pooh will come, and when it does, it will be utter bliss. I love those poohs that make you feel like you have accomplished something or leave you with that real empty feeling.

Also instant coffee is **** - get yourself to a coffee house or coffee shop that does DOUBLE ESPRESSO!

A large bottle of Prune juice is the answer

At this point tackle it from below.
Buy a mini micro lax enema, or a ducolax or glycerine suppository in the pharmacy. Insert into the rectum and wait for the strong urge to go. This will clear much of the backlog and from there continue with the veg etc recommendations here on an ongoing basis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭flutegirl

I know this is health and fitness, but a bit of chocolate usually sends me running in the direction of the toilet! (which is why I rarely touch the stuff) You've tried everything else and you sound desperate! Ditch the diet for today and find some comfort.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,917 ✭✭✭Barry.Oglesby

    I've tweeted your plight. @barryoglesby

Suggestion on facebook from someone was to weigh in before and after when it eventually happens. Also have you tried liquid paraffin?

Wow, I can't believe I just read two pages on pooing. I am curious now- have you gone yet OP? Ditch the diet and keep drinking water, it has to come out at some point. Sucks to be you though- the waiting is sh1t.:D

My granny has a thing about epsom salts, she puts a tiny bit in tea. I mean just the very tip of the spoon. She says it helps, if it does or not I don't know.
