Just got this today, and very nearly opened it after noticing the case cracked (probably in transit, thanks An Post).

I know it's a rare CD but I think I'll be leaving it sealed now:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hudsons-CD-Game-Music-Collection-93-BRAND-NEW-/330681198718

    :)

Utterly worth it though for the Lords/Winds Of Thunder soundtrack. Blows my mind every time I hear it.

I hope you're getting a partial refund on it for the crack??
If posting rare or expensive discs the seller should have made it crack proof before shipping. I've got a few CD mailers to use when posting off single discs in jewel cases and they only cost about 60 cent for a decent one.

Not to point out any negatives, but are you sure thats original cellophane sealed? It looks a little loose, possible like a reseal?

I think The Tower saturn game I got a while back is a reseal, seems to be a lot of excess folded over, more so than a factory seal

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Yep, it's a proper seal. It matches perfectly with other sealed PC Engine items in my collection.

The ones you really want to watch out for are the Nintendo red strips and I think some Playstation tear strips are forged too. Anything with a few quid behind it attracts forgery is my train of thought anyway.

Bloke I bought it off is legit anyway, I've another disc coming off him, hope that one isn't cracked but we'll see. I didn't see a crack in the photos for this one so assume it's transit damage. I'll chat to the bloke and see what the story is anyway.

Can't believe I nearly tore the seal open earlier, all because I wanted to listen to Winds of Thunder at work!

FYI: The reason that disc is rare is because it's a promo but it also came direct from Hudson in limited numbers, though I forget to what outlets they shipped to. It's probably American as they use the title Lords of Thunder, not Winds of Thunder on the tracklisting. Some folks are selling cheap, opened copies of it but sealed ones aren't easy to find (afaik).

The kids and the other half have been looking for a ps2 controller for a few weeks now (ie annoying me to get one) so flew down to a carboot thing this morning to grab one. I was going through a box of ps2 stuff trying to pick out a control and was about to ask the guy how much for one when he said 10 euro for the box of stuff. So took the lot. ended up with

    PS2 Console all cables
    PS2 Slim all cables.
    6 PS2 Controllers (2 original, 4 generic)
    1 PS1 Contoller generic.
    A Talkboy thing (From Homealone?)
    A Namco PS2 Gun.
    A Free Sorting Basket ;)
A copy of step brothers DVD (disc only) from inside the ps2

    All for 10 quid!
This almost makes up for the 2 snes and 10 games i walked past a few weeks back cause the guy was looking for 20 quid for a console with 5 games. still cant believe i let that slip.

It's just a small one where I live in kildare. There's usually nothing decent at it other than a few ps2 games mostly sport titles. I'd seen ps2 controllers at it before so was only expecting to get one today.

Just won Katamari Damacy for PS2, 15 posted for the US version.
Already have the PAL We love Katamari but I wanted the original, didn't realise it'd be so reasonable.
You see, this is why I hardly ever buy new releases any more!

Got this myself a while back, but no way of playing it yet :(
You can never have enough Katamari but I preferred the PS2 one over the 360 version.

Where the hell are these charity shops???
I won't say a derogatory word as last time I got berated, but the ones I find in Swords and around north co Dublin are filled with second hand clothes and video cassettes.

I pop into the same 3 or 4 charity shops maybe once a week or every 2nd week, do a quick scan & leave.
I'm West of the Shannon so I would guess that if you're in Dublin you would have more competition for retro bits.

very little gaming wise in Dublin ones either.

best I've gotten over the last while was

    Solstice Nes cart €1
    Metal Gear Solid PS1 €2
    Chase The Express PS1 €1
    Theme Hospital PC €1

although one of my good buys a while back was when I overheard someone try to sell GC games (and a few other bits) to The Rage and being offered a pittance.

I approached them outside to make an offer on some of the games and got 4 Resi's, 2 Zeldas and a Paper Mario, all mint for €100.

Not terribly exciting this since I've given up collecting games, just new new parts to try out on the cab. I'm going to put back in the original AWSD 1P control panel I have so I can sit centre screen. It's slightly different to the 2P CP currently in place at the minute in that I need flat mounting plates so decided to get a couple of sticks and buttons while I'm at it.

LS-56-01 on the left and LS-58-01-X on the right, the 58 supposedly has a slightly softer spring. Have a pair of 58s in the 2P CP atm , think I prefer the look of the coloured shafts on them to the black.

New 72-pin connector is all that's arrived today.

I bought Rule of Rose a while ago and it's still not yet to arrive, anyone else finding the US post taking forever, I'm hoping it's not lost?

Ah Pheonix 3, some incredible poor platforming sections intertwined by an average at best space shooter, nevertheless, it's well worth playing through just to witness the hilariously poorly made FMV scenes, replete with horridly spartan sets and actors who look like they'd be less embarrassed on a porn set.

they look in decent nick, think some people were over-reacting a bit yesterday at a couple of slightly torn labels.

Are those Tengen games and F15 Strike Eagle US region NES games or is there some other reason their carts are a different design?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,289 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

They're all NTSC. Was tempted to snipe that auction but the only game in it I'm interested in was Megaman 2 and space is a bit of a premium at the moment!

Nice, they do look in decent shape, the auction photo was well blurred and thats the reason I didn't bid

Anything I've ordered from the states has always taken an age so I wouldn't worry just yet!

The Snes I got recently took only a week and I ordered a book from sub press and had that inside the week as well.

Depends on the seller really, plus I found that anything from the east cost takes a lot lot longer
