The Arcade version has different levels, Snes version looks great with mode 7 effects and all but sometimes the sudden slowdown puts you of balance and that results in an undeserved death :P

The really nasty hard one is Ghost 'n Goblins

Super Gn'G is definitely the easier of the two.

Low balling a pensioner ........you truly have no shame.

That's how I got my N64 with Goldeneye, rumble pack and gold controller for €8 not so long ago.

No such thing as shame when there's a deal to be had. :P

The G'nG games are presented on disk two of the four disk collection Capcom Generations for the Playstation that has Ghosts'n Goblins, Ghouls'n Ghosts and Super Ghouls'n Ghosts.
I have no idea how accurate the conversions are, but I have the disk so someone is welcome to tell me next time we have a Beers here.

I think the PS released cured the slow down issues the snes version had, still a beautiful looking game today. I remember the slow down could fcut you up and cost lives if the screen for too busy.

Untested so I'm not putting electricity anywhere near them until they've been cleaned out and checked. Fairly grimy inside. Need some compressed air ASAP!

    So they're Hantarex T 25 EQs. They've a decent selection of inputs.

I've a feeling they're not going to power up straight away. If so, I reckon I'll be sending the chassis off to be fixed. Would absolutely love to have one of these as a gaming monitor, they're class.

They look very handy o1s1n, nice haul! Nice straight sides to them for handy rotating too.

Can't see from the pics but do they have a front panel or did they come with remotes or anything, how do you change input sources or mess with picture settings etc? Nice get man.

Not just arcade collecting, remembering Gamesworld letting a staff member plug in the brand new Japanese N64, not long imported.
There was smoke, heartbreak and sadness that day.
Not so much "It'sa Mario!" as it was "It'sa 110v you dumbass!!"

Nope, this minion knew the difference between Jap and EU power was more than just the design of the plug.

was there just the Gamesworld on Liffey Street, or were there others?
because I could swear there was one in Blackrock in the early 90s

There was the original store, a counter in the back of Chapters, on Abbey St, that was when they were there, under Snakebite Tattoo and Piercings there.
Then they opened a shop around the corner on Liffey St, around 95/96, before the EU release of the PS, this shop is now operating as Gamestop but the Gamesworld name is still there, set into the entrance step.
After that they opened a counter on the third floor of the Stephens Green Centre.
Then there was a period of expansion, when they opened branches all over, including one in Santry.
When Gamestop came along and bought them over they pumped money in and the stores popped up all over the country, including a couple in Ulster and one in England, the latter did it's best but after a couple of years it closed.
None in Blackrock in the early 90's, sorry!

There was a game shop in Blackrock SC in 98, cant remember what it was, possibly Game. I bought my n64 there with my first wage slip in full time employment back in 1998.
Actually I'm thinking of Dun Laoghaire shopping centre

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,321 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Might have been Electronics Boutique back then.

That's probably Joystix, which was in the Frascati Centre, right beside the newsagents.
There definitely was another one down on the Main Street because I remember being able to rent games for a week at a time (one of them being Atomic Runner), even rented a SNES console once.

Got a couple of things this morning,
called into GS in the Pavilions in Swords and bought a few older titles,
Brink, PS3, not meant to be amazing but an interesting take on FPS
Donkey Kong Jet Race, Wii, sadly crippled without DK Bongo support, but was cheap as chips and I don't have it so....
BattleFantasia, a nice fighter, from the Guilty Gear folks at ARC
    All for only 15 euro...

Oh, and at the counter I was told that the PS3 purchases entitled me to a free game from a selection, so I got Assassins Creed Revelations, which comes with Assassins Creed built in.

So, that's 5 games for 15 euro, a good day methinks.

The sale continues til days end.

Also, bought Espgaluda II for the 360 from the Pyongster via Jamma+, and hope to have it in a day or two, I sent him my warmest regards and look forward to a North Korean City being represented here in A&R sometime soon.
