Ooooh, where'd you get the consolized MVS system?? Haven't seen one of them around these parts before.

Hope you get some use out of that Famicom before it passes hands again, I powered it on once too and that was it :D

Excellent price! Any consolized arcade units I've seen tend to go for mad money.

Bare boards go for about 150. Consolised I've seen go for about 600 average.

For whatever reason, most folk who make consolized units sell them for a lot of money (more than they're worth IMO). Check out the ebay prices, it will make you want to get into the business :D

MVS ones seem to go for about €300 on average, dependant on the finish. I've seen other systems like consolized CPS2 boards sell for more.

Ah you should be able to get a decent MVS system for well under 100. Last one I bought was only €70. If you're paying €150 you're spending too much.

    I didn't, cidey cut me a good deal :)

Single slot MVS boards are available from 50 - 100. Someone of J+ was selling a few recently for £50 I think.

But if that's what there selling for then so be it.

Eh no, I've not any plans to build any MVS ones. Still not finished my own after 18 months of owing it :) Only cost €10 to do but does resemble a badger arse though.

I've seen some of the CPS2 ones and they are a decent job alright complete with USB interfaces, no idea what they cost though.

The conservationist in me ain't a big fan of them, but I can see the logic in ones for cart based boards like the Neo Geo. Sure they're pretty much like a little console in a cab.

    Consolized CPS2 sounds daft though!

So it does away with the need for a Supergun/cab?

Has it's own power supply and scart cable for picture and sound?

    Strange looking yoke alright.

That's it. They stick output ports on the MVS board itself, so you can plug it straight into a tv as if it were a console.

Another one to add to your crappy games collection?

Actually to be fair I think I played that years ago when I was a kid... but in my defence...

No sorry I can't even defend that.

This is a man who owns a Westlife quiz game for said PS1.

The Arcana game looks like a nice get, well done

Well at least it doesn't involve firing love pheromones at scary, sporty, posh, ginger or baby spice.

    Not in game anyway.

I've gone to the dark side and bought an Apple Mac Mini MB138B/A.

In my defence I need it to do some apple specific coding, testing and need a mac to publish on iOS so bought the cheapest mac mini I could afford.

Nothing wrong with Macs. I'm dying to get a Macbook myself.

Popped into the newly opened HMV on my lunchbreak today. Store looks nice but the games selection, in my local anyway, wasn't great. Had a look through the "pre-owned" (they were all new games, probably until people start trading games in) games. Anyway, spotted this and picked it up.

    D0510FFB-D894-49F7-9669-2F204E77A43A-9791-000001F6B07A72BA_zps5395c028.jpg

Already have it on the 360 but figured it's worth a fiver for all the DLC included. Got home and opened up the box to find this inside:

    FC813A02-2927-49F4-BCBA-5C7C59CD5748-9791-000001F6B7E3284F_zps5353e84c.jpg

So got GRID 2 for a fiver which was nice. Only with it was on the 360. One other thing was all the staff had Xtra-vision staff cards and name badges which was odd but I suppose they're merging the two stores.

Looks nice, I'll have to venture in and have a look, although it kinda feels like the old days, having to head into town on the horse and cart to visit the nearest HMV!

I went into the one on Henry street on Friday, all excited to pick up Dredd on blueray - no sign of it though :(

They seem to be very limited in stock, ended up coming out empty handed.

Maybe they haven't finalised deals with various suppliers?
I'd certainly be hesitant about dropping a preorder deposit on anything beyond a week or two, just in case.
Can't see people buying a lot of vouchers there either, given the experience with them over the bulk of 2013, I reckon a huge amount were just binned, folk considering them worthless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

I'd say that's the case. Plus they're only open a short while so they could still be waiting on deliveries.

I trawled through ex-Xtravision stock in Balbriggan market and was surprised to find bugger all I wanted, masses of 2 year old + games and none of them jumped at me.
All I could think of was there's no rush to buy here, what ever games are being sold off for a fiver, sure they'll be the fodder of Sunday markets for the next 6 years, plenty of time.
And so, I really need to see some pre-owned stock somewhere new, GS always seems to have the same old stuff in and the same old high prices, at least HMV gave us some choices, not to mention CEX.
