Jesus they're some prices! What's the attraction with them anyway? Are they just the game ROMs burned onto PGM carts? I'd sooner stick with console ports where you can get them, or add up those prices and buy the PCBs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Casey120

    Pricey :pac:

I traded some (guitar) stuff for them ;)

    PS,
Ketsui and Galuda need a lot more solder work than DDP BL , the last one used to be € 60,- cheaper but demand probably sets the price .

They work out cheaper and hardware wise it's pretty much the same thing. It's along the same lines of say a CPS2 conversion where you replace eeproms on a cheapo game with an expensive game.

What does Ketsui PCB only sell for these days? €600-€700? I'd like to have the game but could never dream of paying those rates. €180 doesn't seem so bad in comparison.

Edit - think what bumps up the price a bit is the fact that you have to find a sacrificial PGM cart to use too. They aren't the cheapest things to come across unfortunately.

Ketsui went up to about € 600,- and has stayed there forever since people realised how awesome the game was .
It did pretty bad in the Japanese Arcades in 2003 when it was released and could be found cheap until 5 years ago .

As I understand for Galuda and Ketsui he needs certain games to be able to convert, I'm sure one of them is Knights of Valour 2, not just the cheapest € 10,- Mahjong cart .

So he's basically destroying legit carts to make a tasty profit. I was just reading some threads on AO and shmups about the practice, some strong opinions about it. :pac:

Personally I couldn't spend 200 quid on a fake but each to their own.

Note I'm not knocking your stuff Casey, just curious about this PGM stuff. :)

I have read that but some guys with those strong opinions own ProGear conversions, CPS2 multiboards made of multiple stacked originals or things like Converted CPS1 G&G boards themselves which are the exact same thing

I just put the PGM mobo in and had a test drive, both carts work perfectly .
It's nice to be able to do a quick swap trough all four games though, easy as changing carts in your Snes !

Received my PCB holder today. One of the worst pieces of packaging I've ever seen.

Then auction ended at one pound - but the packing from the UK was £6.90. I checked the UK delivery sticker and he paid £2.60

I didn't think too much of it as I'd assumed the holder was mainly steel.
Nope, it's plastic. And yep, part of it is broken due to the packaging (or lack of it)

I think they're second hand (came out of cabs) so it didn't have the original packaging. Still, he could have put it in a box :(

On the plus side, it still functions okay. The split on the top of the rail is kind of negated by the screws holding it in place on the board thankfully :)
