Agreed, it's just a slightly jarring detail I've noticed. Translating people's self summaries into real life is tricky business.

Do you think someone who is shy even if it is only shy at first should include or exclude this?

Maybe " i'm a little reserved at first" as opposed to shy ? I say this for a few reasons .. ahem ..

In fairness, he did take the time and effort to copy and paste. Surely that's worth something?? :)

A lot depends on who you want to attract and what type of first impression you want to make. My profile isn't active at the moment but I think I went with "geek" and "quiet" rather than shy because I thought that described me better. Things I'm interested in I have no problem chatting about, the issue for me is usually finding mutual interests because I'm not much into the normal range of stuff.

Same as. Was talking to a "geek girl" a couple of times recently - it's great, hehe. :)

What reasons? I think reserved is more negative than shy. It implies that you are boring and old fashioned IMO.

Ha, kudos! It's a hard quality to find even amongst the geeky professions.

Doesn't look like the third lady I met from online dating will be getting back to me anytime soon. Pretty disappointed she didn't at least respond and let me know she's not up for meeting again, rather than just say nothing :o Guess ya just can't win sometimes!

    Third time lucky fail. :pac:
I guess it's not so bad. She was cool, but I randomly got talking to a stranger last weekend and had more craic with her tbh. There is alot to be said about good old fashioned pub randomness!

Have a house warming to attend tomorrow evening followed by heading into town, looking forward to it. :)

It doesn't cost much to at least be honest, some people are just attention seeking dicks. Just plain ignoring someone after talking to them is unbelievably dickish.

altho i'm sure i spotted one of the girls here having a look, but i cannot msg you , as it transpires you have the ould " dont talk to me if you've looked at another woman who might be sluttier than me" setting switches on ..

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering which site you believe to be better for online dating? I am currently on POF and OKC and they both seem to be the same in terms of people getting back to you (not much in my experience). Is there others out there that are better? Like E-harmony. How is that?

It seems that POF and OKC are the main ones really and i think the E-harmony website was hacked in the last few days with peoples passwords and details taken so you might want to give that one a miss awhile.

I know all there is to know about the crying...."what the fu*k"

still getting these 'gonna ask you on a date but streel you along for weeks" dudes.. I'm beginning to think I'm giving off a vibe :(

So I used POF very briefly before and just now I decided I'd check it out again. I've had my profile online for about half an hour, have received 10 messages and not one of them has mentioned anything related to my interests etc.

I've gotten a message from a "well hung Australian" who wants to know if I'd be interested in some "sexy fun". Hun. Do not call me 'hun'.

    I've been told I look like a model. I don't, I really do not.

I've gotten, 'Hey sexy", "Sexy pic", "Nice profile pic". I mean, what kind of response do these people expect? "Thanks"? End of conversation right there. Plus, sexy, really? Sexy? I'm a stranger, any word other than sexy would be more apt imo.

Shit, am I this frustrated already? Bodes well for the future!

    Hate that!

I'm on the opposite side in that the girls I message seem to either cancel dates last minute or seem to be busy whenever I ask to meet up. So I've left them to their own devices and shalln't be making contact again. I've better things to be doing in my life that living on the end of their strings.

On that note I'm back at this again after another break of around four to six weeks and I'm not pleased to see that POF have now designated the 'Viewed me' feature for upgraded users only. First they took away the 'Last online' feature and now this, I'm getting the feeling that any more changes may warrant a permanent exit from that site altogether.

he said that he would do anything if i did....still no

I decided to try POF after 0 success on okcupid.

I Put a pic up and found I'm getting a few(not many) responses, but it's taking some serious effort to keep the Convo goin.

Seriously tough going but I think Ill get there.

Tell him that's fine by you but he needs to be doing the housework while he's at it :) Either that or point him towards a kink website where his cross dressing preferences will be seen as a plus

In my experience, those were the only sort of replies I got on POF, I lasted about a day on it! :o

Would definitely recommend OKC over POF. The majority of messages I got on OKC were genuine.

I can see why people would be put off online dating from using POF!

Oh, really? Yeah, last time I deleted my profile 'cause I just got so many messages that were sleazy and stuff, it was a waste of time. I'll give OKC a try :)

It's definitely a case of quality over quantity - you'll get far fewer messages, but at least 70% or so of them will actually be genuine! :) Unlike on POF (in my experience, anyways.)

It takes a bit longer to set up your profile, but I think that's actually a good thing - weeds out some of the timewasters!
