Ryan gets one name drop all game in the commentary and it's a negative one!

Match report will be good reading. From what we read ROG, Wallace, POM and Loughney were good, A lot of annonymity (be that from lack of input, or simple lack of commentary!) and Gilroy stole the show...

What is the point of the Barbarians taking penalties? Seriously they have to stop their win at all costs attitude, the Barbarians are meant to be entertainers.

This isn't a moan at Ireland losing this btw.

Decent run out. Hope Marshall got on. Gilroy sounds like he was on fire. Will be awaiting the report with great interest, most importantly if POM coming off was just precautionary or did he pick up an injury.

Full touring squad to be confirmed tomorrow, please let Wallace and Gilroy be added. The props tbc are a complete lottery, very unclear with those updates who played well in the forwards.

Great to see the back three grabbing tries & sounding dangerous.

Marshall & Spence must be disappointed to be brought along & not get on the pitch (which it seems by the live updates).

Decent warm up by the sounds of it though.

Probably a bit of banter then so.

They're professional players. Give them a shot at goal with 2 minutes left and 2 points behind and they'll take it no matter what their supposed ethos is or what team they play for. It's a misconception that the Barbarians run everything. They've kicked plenty of penalties in their time. The run everything attitude only came into proceedings in more modern times when they became more of a mess team that were on a booze up.

Also, keep in mind who would have made the decision to go for the sticks in the last minute. He will have loved putting one over on the Irish lads.

No problem with them taking the 3 at the end. Only penalty they kicked all game. Different back when some of the SA guys were ruining the tour with the drop goals and constant taking of 3.

    Mick O'Driscoll!?

Exactly. I can imagine him laughing his ass off at ROG and DOC as he walked off. As probably his last ever game of rugby, he'll have enjoyed that one.

yeah, as ak said, good banter. I thought you might've been pointing a finger at a certain Doctor... Whom would've enjoyed kicking the 3 anyway!

With the congested fixture listings wins are important - it validates the need for the barbarian matches in a congested fixture listings for teams in international rugby plus why shouldn't they play for the win - their players are professional too :P

Sounds like Gilroy had a stormer, I can't wait to see how he goes in NZ with form like that to back up...oh that's right Deccie didn't pick him...well done Declan...

Anyway obviously none of us saw the game but given England put 50 on them on Sunday that's a very poor result.

This is a terrible result England beat this team 56-26. Irish International Rugby is in real trouble, kudos to Gilroy who it seems had a great game.

England's team was nearly full strength. They had at least 9 starters. We had about 4. Not sure the England result is really comparable. Especially when you take into account that the Barbarians team had more time to prepare for the Irish game.

Would have loved to see it, would have loved if Madigan was playing even more.
